'Enders star linked to 'Doctor Who'

    Rex Features
Former Eastenders star Tom Ellis is reportedly in the running to play the next Time Lord.

The 29-year-old has apparently emerged as a candidate to take over from David Tennant, who is to step down from Doctor Who at the end of next year.

Ellis, who is married to Tamzin Outhwaite, played Dr Oliver Cousins in the BBC soap during 2006. Other names linked to the iconic role include Robert Carlyle, Paterson Joseph and David Morrissey.

A BBC source told The Mirror: "Tom is the frontrunner for the job and is very interested."

Ellis previously appeared on Doctor Who in the role of Thomas Milligan.

Ah, but Tom Milligan may be bought back at some point, he's engaged to Martha. So I doubt he's going to be seriously considered as he's been in the show already

Just another name on an evergrowing list of potential doctors. I also doubt that he will be the next doctor. His role in the Master trilogy was a bit too big to be forgotten.
He's like fire, ice and rage. He's like the night, and the storm in the heart of the sun.
He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe.
      And he's wonderful.
