That looks so much nicer than what DST has given us. I love the gear used. Which head did you use for O'Neill? With the gear on him, have you considered making a black ops one? It would be a pretty accurate Black Ops O'Neill if you just use black BDU's. Nevertheless, good job on him.

      Its a Chan Ada sculpt,

Considering the Black BDU's but for the time being im gonna leave him as is, after Ive finished my Jaffa Serpent I may revisit him, Ive some green BDU's that I may dye black.

However I went this route as Ive seen some HT figures based on the same scheme and although not screen accurate I liked it nonetheless. He may yet get put into those Green BDU's (I havent tried him yet) plus the desert camo jacket was the only one I could find with that collar.

The Jaffa once done I may cast, so if anyone likes it once its finished (& after Ive posted some images) and would like to commision me then send me a PM.

I can really see Jack in that, awesome job! The time you put into it makes it look great.

I've never looked into the 1/6 scale of figures before but I'm really admiring the level of detail.
Rope climbing's the reason I got bronze instead of silver in the ParticipACTION programme.

I SO saw a different topic line when I saw this thread the first time...
The figure looks quite nice, btw. A nice 12 inches.

now that you say it... Maybe that's the reason for the moderation, Mooncat, maybe the moderators were mislead as well. It might be only a misunderstanding.

Absolutely awesome! And the desert camo is quite well for me, I love Jack in this! What exactly is the difference between 1/6 and 12"? Is this the same size? Would that mean, I could buy one of the DST-Jacks, and all the extra stuff you have (would you tell us where to get it?) and make my own?

            Even your head looks good!

                    The recipe is :

                    Chan ada sculpt:

                    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Colonel-Jack-O...mZ160292574491

BTW she does a cracking Sheppard also (havent bought that one yet as he isnt a major want and I havent done the sourcing for the other parts.

                    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lt-Colonel-Joh...6189QQihZ005QQ

The rest was pretty much all sourced by ebay and mainly from 7toys7 a HK 1/6 supplier

The BDu's were from manhole (oooerr missus)

                    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=350096878522

                    I also got some greens

                    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=350095693477

Only thing I couldnt find in my ebay list was the Radio (which was a sniper one and Hoy Toys I think with the wires on it for a push to talk and from that on then to a headset) which I cut back to be more screen accurate so just the radio.

Body was a Hot Toys Truetype Male caucasian as Chan sculpts the pegs to accomodate the HT short neck pegs

In fact as you will see most of the parts are HT (Hot Toys)

Hot Toys figures as standalone figures arent cheap and the parts arent either, but imho you get quality stuff with HT, they are definitely leading the way with 1/6th knocking Medicom and Sideshow for 6

In total Im reckoning it was close to £70 - £80 ------- $140 ish

But I enjoyed putting it together scouring the web for the parts, painting the sculpt (BTW I know some cracking headsculpt painters if anyone decides they want one on another board)

The badges I had ordered from Patches with Pride (ive had some of him in the past (Imperial ones) and he always does quality work, might not necassarily be cheap, but its quality stuff)

If you do order with him tell Mark I sent ya and point him at this post

                    http://www.patchesofpride.com/

I also ordered some Battlestar Galactica patches for an 2000 Apollo (to go along my 80's apollo and cylon and my 2000 cylon) again using a chan Ada Lee Adama sculpt

Hopefully Ada will complete the series and hopefully do a great job on

                    Carter
                    Teeac
                    Jackson

Like I said Im working on a Jaffa Serpent atm he's about a few weeks of being finished

Chainmails been ordered, electronics and lights (doing light ups eyes) Ive sourced the skirt materials etc. So he is coming along fine and dandy, Ive ordered a couple of HT bodies so I can do a few (definitely casting it as Ive been sculpting it for 3 weeks now and a few of these will look great in a photo)

                    Anyway ciao for now

Mooncat - first Welcome to Gateworld!

That is an amazingf piece of work! I have just reported how poor the likeness of DST / AA's 12 inch O'Neill and Jackson figures are, and felt guilty about it as I love their work in the 7 inch. - Then I see you did this!!

You have captured the essence of Mr RDA through your paintwork and the costuming and details are fantastic! As someone who tries to customise when he can, I appreciate how hard that is. THis si right up there with our other star customiser Roll My Blues. - Very nice work indeed.

                      Green for you sir!!

Re Modding each post, I'd ask one of the mods about that. It might be a temp thing as you are new, but I don't remember having that when I joined? I'd ask Skydiver, she is really nice and helpful.
Converting a human body into energy and sending it millions of light years through a wormhole. Bloody insanity!
Come on, how often do you get the chance to go to an alien planet?

I was a'ready on an alien planet!

Wow! That in-depth info is priceless. I'm going to print this stuff out in case I ever make the leap into 1/6. I’m really digging that Shep sculpt. Many thanks for the wealth of information.

I also just realized that your signature links to your thread on the sideshow forum. Great set of customs there as well.

                          12" is 6ft in 1/6th scale approx.

You generally see things advertised in the bay and online shops that are 1/6th scale as 12inch or 1/6th so when I search, I search on both tbh

Thx for all your kind words guys and gals, its appreciated

BTW - I was so so dissapointed with the DST offerings, it was advertised as having "accessories" and I was even considering buying one to swap out the sculpt and use some "screen accurate" ones that were going to come with the DST offering. I watched and watched for an updated pic of that terrible sculpt with just the Green BDU's and boots thinking there must be a shot of him all kitted out as it says "accessories"

But I aint seen one, rather Ive seen 2 more offerings of Jackson and Mitchell in the same pitiful outfits.

Forbidden Planet look as though they cant even give em away now as theyve dropped the price to £18.99

I dont want to pay £18.99 for a quality box !

Mooncat, quick question for you if you don’t mind. You’ve really got me stoked on having 1/6th Stargate so I was looking around the ol’ eBay for parts.

Is it reasonable to pick up one of the truetype bodies that come without hands, feet and neck peg and add parts or is it better to pick up a complete body in one set?

Plus, I keep forgetting to mention how much I’m looking forward to your Serpent Guard. Jaffa are a favorite of mine.

It can work out cheaper getting the body, feet, hands and neck peg seperately if you can find em cheaper seperate, ... if

Then you got to weigh up seperate carriage costs also

The all in one figure goes for around £25ish

You get 2 sets of hands and 2 neck pegs (if memory serves) plus 1 set is the rubber version (can be bent etc) and the original headsculpt

depends - if you want gloves on it etc (as you can get fingerless etc) ? and if the boots your getting already have feet pegs in them

The boots I posted go over the feet

Weigh up the carriage and what you need if your getting a bare body

                              Feet
                              Hands
Neck peg (the smaller mushroom version)

If you can source them cheap enough less carriage and the body also

Then go that route if you cant and dont want the hassle go for the all in one

Most of the DID (Dragon in Dreams) stuff will fit also (or if it doesnt it can be made to fit relatively easily) although the hands are more rigid than HT hands (different plastic etc)

                              for eg.

                              http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/_W0QQ_n...Q_fromZQQ_mdoZ

DiD is cheaper, and as long as your not sticking him in any weird poses would suffice imho

That said if you want the best HT is the way to go

FYI Medicom bodies are smaller scale, (they say its 1/6th but unless its a 4ft 9 inch character your building I wouldnt recommmend it)

Plus there have been some reports about the joints breaking on Medi figures in the SSF boards

If you want a more muscley version then you could go for a bbi g3.5

                              you may find this useful

                              http://sideshowcollectors.com/forums...ad.php?t=27176

1/6th bodies can be a bit of a minefield Hot toys have done various bodies over the years the Truetype is their latest offering
