    I'm just wondering, are the books even considered canon? I've heard some people say yes and some people say no. I'm just curious.

        They're canon in the fact that they have to stay true to the storyline of the show.

        They're not canon because TPTB don't usually have a large say in the storylines, so they would be able make an episode or movie that contradicts the plot of the books if they so wished.
