I allowed for the guys hand to pass through the safe wall. I'm not a science-buff so this is a guess, but I think it was probably vibrating at certain frequencies in some kind of pattern. That would tie in with the red and green lights thing as well as the emphasis on music. Something like that.

That sounds right. A similar technique was used in SGA's First Contact.
