Why Stargate: Atlantis is cooler than Battlestar Galactica...

Man, as I watch this season, I find that Stargate Atlantis to be just as crappy as Season 10 of SG1.

I watched all of Season 1, 2, 3 of BSG, and find myself enjoying every episode. Not one episode made me lose attention from the episode. Plot lines are fluid and theres no plot holes in the storylines.

    What about Stargate series?
    - Plot holes
    - No fluditiy between episodes
    - Storyline blows

Even the good storylines like "The Travellers" could have been done much better.

What about Adrift and Lifeline? Good ops episodes, but could have used more action and plot.

It seems to be the same stuff over and over again.

    1) Bad problem
    2) We're screwed
    3) Op mission, or fight
    4) Get objective completed
    5) Friend or someone gets left behind, or something screws up a bit
    6) The end, problem solved.

I love Stargate. I watched Stargate since Season 2 of SG1, and Season 1 of SGA.

    But this is just putrid.

If I had the power, I would definitely give up both stargate series (if SG1 was still airing) for Battlestar Galactica.

I am just vexxed that SGA continues to go, and BSG is gone by 2009.

So they have to cancel Atlantis in order to keep BSG on the air? The fact that it's ending in '09 is clear evidence that it's not being canceled because of the rating but because of something else, maybe that's just where the writers think it's best to end it. Would you rather they just drag it out an extra 2 seasons like they did to SG1 and be left with an average over extended show?

Don't come here bashing Atlantis cause you're mad Galactica is ending, we don't want to hear it. I love BSG too but i'm certainly not going to blame other shows for it's departure.

For me BSG just doesn't have it, if I had to choose between 10 eps of BSG or 1 of SG(A), I'd choose SG definately.

If we're going to nitpick, Kat's "sacrifice" didn't really make much sense, someone else with a lower radition dose could have done it, and don't even get me started on the loss of the Pegasus.

Sure BSG is a good series like 24 but SG stands out imo.

Yeah I'm going with Atlantis actually being brilliant, I find BSG ok, but sometimes it gets a little to political for me. I like Atlantis, and as has been said, go hate it somewhere else, try the anti-season5 and 4 threads, or just the BSG forum

          Oh my goodness!

How could I have been so blind!

          The light dawneth!

Thank you SO much for your compelling message!

Yes, I must turn aside my love, affection and devotion to all things Stargate and turn them to BSG.

I must worship BSG because...the critics like it.

          (cough)

Oh, darn, I must have been affected by that darn virus I picked up Friday night watching "Tabula Rasa."

Never mind. I'll keeping watching SGA, thank you very much.

And BSG when it returns as well.

I'm capable of watching and enjoying both series.

Rofl, u r gonna get soo flamed.

              Ill lay it out simple:
*bsg is softcore porn with starships
              *remake of a classic
*only lasted as long as enterprise, the worst trek in human history
              *atlantis 5 > bsg 4
*bsg shed its viewers at an appalling rate after season one, which means it was just a fad
*its cute the staff pretends they chose to cancell it and it wasnt the ratings

              Troo story

                No thanks.

I watched all 3 seasons of BSG last week, and found it very enjoyable. However, I wouldn't pick it over Atlantis. I think 4 seasons is enough, and anymore would be dragging it out. The writers/producers obviously agree, because it was THEIR decision to stop at 4 seasons. If SGA got cancelled, there wouldn't be more BSG. There would just be millions of p*ssed off fans. You don't like Atlantis? So what. There are lots of people that do, and yes they can enjoy BOTH shows, like I do. To want Atlantis cancelled so that BSG will return is greedy and stupid, as it wouldn't happen. Unless you just want all the Atlantis fans to feel as bad as the BSG fans?

Now, may I ask why you would think to start such a purposely antagonistic thread in an SGA forum? I take it you are trying to start a flame war here.

Atlantis is staying, BSG is going. That's just the way it is. And the fact that Atlantis is staying has NOTHING to do with the fact BSG is going. So I suggest you take your silly threads elsewhere.

p.s- I hate it when people try and turn it into show vs. show, and try and make out that you can only like one.

And also, if I was you, I'd be very careful. I think you know fine well that you would start a flamewar, and I wouldn't be suprised if you got punished for it if it escelates. Hope it was worth it!

BSG is ending by creative decision by Ronald D Moore. SGA's ratings have been good enough to make it go more seasons. Remember the ratings you see are not the final numbers. Obviously this is true since show got renewed and had a press release about the final numbers to date.

I think it's pretty interesting. BSG will most likely end in 2009 for 2 reasons, First reason is the writer's strike if that does not get resolved and secondly they are working around SGA's schedule, which has pulled in slightly better ratings for BSG last season.

I have only seen the beginning of the miniseries of BSG, and I personally didn't find it compelling enough for me to watch. I have zero issues with others finding enjoyment/entertainment with it.

However, I really enjoy Stargate, esp. with the improvements occuring in S4 (of course, simply my opinion).

Regardless of whatever reason BSG is being ended for, I do not know. I am sorry a show you like so much is ending (but hey, everything ends, Stargate will too eventually).

Please don't insist one show should end so yours would be able to continue, esp. when that isn't even the case.

                      P. S. What reaction do you think you are going to get by posting this in the S4 Forum? Seriously, way off topic. I think this belongs in the BSG Forum

Yeah well, I can't abide BSG. Literally it sends me to sleep, so I couldn't have cared less whether it was cancelled or not, to be honest. I don't watch it, so whether it's on air or not doesn't matter to me. Sorry.

I don't see what BSG's cancellation has got to do with SGA's renewal at all.

I'm delighted SGA got a season 5. I think it desrves it, and I look forward to it. But, each to his/her own.

It doesn't. SGA is doing well in ratings and not as expensive to produce so it got a 5th season. Ron Moore took it upon himself to pull the plug, which I think he is kicking himself now since most networks are not looking at previous season numbers. I bet you if he did not pull the plug, there could of been a 5th season of BSG as well.

well said! BSG is a cool show which I really enjoyed and I'm looking forward to s4 but I'd never choose it over SGA. besides what's the point in arguing anyway? BSG didn't get renewed and SGA did. if you don't like Atlantis then don't watch it. and Mattathias2.0 is right, this thread should really be in the BSG forum

I'm glad that BSG's TPTB have decided to wrap things up and finish the series. And I'm very happy that they have plenty of time to do so. No rushed endings here!

At this point I don't care all that much about what happens to SGA, but I don't think it's fair to try and set the two against each other. BSG's end has nothing to do with SGA.

Besides, with the possibility of BSG finishing in 2009 it's possible that BSG will end after SGA if SGA is canceled after s5. Heh.
