    Christmas Invasion Question

I've got a question about the Christmas Invasion... The 2nd one with
Catherine Tate, not the one witht he Sycorax....

I'm going to go all geeky and say this.

At the end they defeat the spiders by draining the whole Thames
into that hole to the centre of the Earth. But given time and
distance wouldn't most of the water have evaporated by the time
it gets to the bottom of the shaft, which itself is problematic because
how could it have survived all these years and not been moved by
earth tremors / quakes and such.

Also the deeper you go the hotter it would get.... I wonder how long
it would take to drop down the hole?

And if you reach the dead centre of the Earth, just wondering
wouldn't that be a null gravity area?
    Go home aliens, go home!!!!

The ep is actually called The Runaway Bride, and if you're looking for accurate science in Doctor Who, you're gonna be making a LOT of threads.

Can't comment on the null-g stuff, but as for the evaporation thing, it doesn't have to travel all the way down, just far enough to knock off the children climbing up the tunnel. They plunge to their death, quite possibly knocking other children off the walls as they fall, who also start to plummet and... well, you get the idea.

I'd also assume that the ship was designed to withstand the pressures put upon it by the surrounding planet, otherwise they wouldn't have "hidden" that way in the first place.
