    A new car

So Rodney bought his sister a new car, just like that, which made me think about how much the crew of Atlantis get paid.

Certainly enough to drop money on a car like that, but do you think that it's a case of them getting paid a lot, or just having no where to spend it?

Also, I'd imagine that Rodney probably gets paid more than Sheppard, as he's not specifically military personnel. He'd have to be employed on a contract to the military, which might be quite lucrative.

Also, what about Teyla and Ronon? Do you think they get paid?

    Probably a bit of both.

^ i agree. there's nowhere to spend money in atlantis. i'd think they'd all be smart enough to set up their own bater system, but it's prolly all going to a (high interest) bank account on earth, or to their families left behind

It wouldn't make any sense really for them to get paid in dollars. It's not like they spend a lot of time on earth, or are ever likely to. They probably get compensated in some way though.

If I was loaded, then I'd probably have stayed in a better hotel, than that seedy looking motel. Am I right?

Its probably procedure to stay in places like that so as to stay inconspicuous, whenever we've seen SG1 doing these kind of investigations they always seemed to stay in some dump lol.
A word of advice... there are creatures that live between this dimension and the next, fiendish creatures that feast on the suffering of an entire world to satiate their eternal hunger. Support the Gateworld Cantina or suffer the fate of all who fall into the clutches of the 'Eladrith Ynneas'

It's probably time that they spoke to their union about that.

on earth all members probably would make a 6 didgit salary, so its probably been matched. Hes been there for 3 years, didnt have to pay for mortage or any of that, his money just accumulated (except for what he gambled away in pegasus).

Senior scientists with the US Government can make upwards of $150,000 a year or more.

                      http://www.opm.gov/oca/08tables/html/slst.asp

Sheppard, as a Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF with 16 to 18 years experience would make $6776.40 to $6968.10 per month ($81319.80 to $83617.20 per year) before any bonuses for hazardous duty or whatever else he would get for being stationed on Atlantis. His base pay also wouldn't include any housing allotments.

I think it is really a case of both. Spending so much time on Atlantis obviously reduces expenses. Plus, I would think a military scientist would command a pretty high salary. Particularly one of the top specialists.
