The "Harmony" Pre-Airing Discussion and Speculation Thread

On his blog today, JM stated that a story by the name of "Harmony" has filled the final slot:
The last story slot has finally been filled. We spent most of yesterday spinning, then breaking Harmony which I am really, really, REALLY looking forward to. Alas, I won’t be writing it as Marty G. will be assuming said duties, but I have no doubt he’ll do a brilliant job AND have a lot of fun with it.
    http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2...st-2-2007.html

    Wonder what it's about!

    EDIT

    Some clarification from Joe's blog:

PG-15 writes: “1. Harmony: is it the episode filling the last empty slot? 2. You mentioned breaking the Shep-on-Earth story next week, but I thought you guys have already spun it out, or at least broken it already? 3. So, Martin Gero is doing "Harmony"? Wow, so he's writing his "Three's Company" episode, the JF-pitched story, AND Harmony? He's going to be busy.”

Answers: 1. Yes, Harmony takes the last empty episode slot. 2. We started spinning the story but took a break to work on Harmony, then will switch gears again to work on the Sheppard on Earth story next week. 3. Martin was writing the Sheppard on Earth story but, having finished Trio (formerly Three’s Company), he will start on Harmony while Alan McCullough assumes writing duties on the JF-inspired eppy.

UPDATE 1 First update is here from Joe's Blog!

I’m really looking forward to Harmony. I know Jodelle will be brilliant. She’s always brilliant.

UPDATE 2 Corresponding to the above

    PG15
writes: “Oh, and Jodelle? Are you talking about Jodelle Ferland?”

    Answer: Maaaaybe…

UPDATE 3 MASSIVE Plot spoilers for this episode from SG-1 Solutions (thanks to SGFerrit for posting it up)

    Introduction

“Harmony” is currently scheduled to be the seventeenth episode to air in Season Four of Stargate Atlantis. The episode is written by Martin Gero.

    Details

Summary: Always keen on helping their allies, Sheppard and McKay accept a proposal made by Harmony’s sisters to accompany her on a trek into the forest to seek guidance to become queen in her late mother’s stead. Will Harmony become the planet’s new queen, or will an enemy assassinate her — and her escorts?

Flora and Mardola are entertaining Sheppard and McKay in the royal audience room in celebration of their society’s alliance with the Expedition. Both McKay and Sheppard enjoy the grain and fruit obtained in their trade agreement while the Expedition protects them with warnings concerning the Wraith. All is well, except that their sister Harmony must go through a rite of passage for guidance to become queen after their mother’s passing.

The rules of the rite state that the princess must go to the ruins of the great Temple of Laros in the forest alone to meditate and pray and then return. It’s only a day’s journey, but Harmony is so young that Flora and Mardola wish that Sheppard and McKay accompany her to make sure she’s safe. They don’t feel it will be breaking the rules if Sheppard and McKay, both outsiders, go with her.

But, there are Genii soldiers on the planet and Sheppard kills three of them after they are attacked. Why are they there and what do they hope to accomplish in killing Harmony?

    Guest Characters

    * Harmony
    * Flora
    * Mardola

EDIT 2 From Gateworld's main page, essentially the same thing as above but with a few new details (bolded):

Colonel Sheppard and Dr. McKay visit one of their favorite planets, where they toast a long-time trading partnership. Their hosts are two beautiful and charming princesses, Flora and Mardola. As palace guards stand nearby, they thank John and Rodney for their life-saving medicine, their warnings about a Wraith culling, and their kindness. The two men are obviously smitten.

But as they prepare to leave, the women bring themselves to ask for a favor. They have a younger sister named Harmony, who they introduce to Sheppard and McKay. With their mother the Queen having recently died, Harmony is the heir to the throne -- but before she can be crowned, she must pass a dangerous test and trek a day's walk into the forest, to the Temple of Laros. While others are generally not permitted to assist in the rite of passage, the concerned older sisters wish Sheppard and McKay to protect Harmony from danger without the others knowing.

They are happy enough to oblige, and head into the woods with the strong-willed girl. It isn't long before danger finds them -- but it's not lions, tigers, or bears. There is a Genii contingent on the planet, and the deadly soldiers seem to be trying to prevent Harmony from ascending to the throne. Though they manage to take out some of the men, they must stay on the run ... and keep young Harmony alive.

The Genii's motives are not solely their own, however. They are working with one of Harmony's sisters.

Guest characters include Harmony, Flora, Mardola, the Genii Field Captain, Genii soldiers, and various palace guards and villagers.

UPDATE 4 Just a very small one:

I’ve been busy: working on my producer’s cut of Kindred I, doing a polish on Martin Gero’s already great Harmony script, and dealing with miscellaneous publicity/production issues - but still managed to find time to send off two emails to my Nigerian penpals -
    http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2...t-22-2007.html

UPDATE 5 From JM's blog, and thanks to Alipeeps, a little tidbit from Dave's blog as well:

On the work front: shooting continues on the big team-up eppy, finished the polish on Harmony, almost finished my producer's cut of Kindred I as I await the completion of the Previously On sequence, an exhausted Martin completed his latest (and last) rewrite of Trio, read the first draft of Outcast, and watched the episode with the engagement scene (I have a feeling the fans will love it).
    http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2...t-23-2007.html

The next two Stargate Atlantis episodes "Harmony" & "Trio" are really McKay heavy so I doubt I'm going to have much time to do more than just learn lines and sleep, but even with hiatus, DVD releases and babies fast approaching I'm still very eager to get back behind the camera!

UPDATE 6 Thanks to prion. This time from Dave's Twitter:

Start shooting "Harmony" today. Long way out into the B.C. wilderness for this episode...so a 4:30 am start for lucky me!
    http://twitter.com/dhewlett/statuses/232305092

UPDATE 7 Looks like JM won't be able to make it for the shooting today

Well as it turned out, I had the opportunity to do a little summer spring cleaning today since my planned outing to Widgen Park for the first day of Harmony was rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.
    http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2...t-28-2007.html

UPDATE 8 BIG update! And thanks to PG15. Looks like Harmony is being shot as we speak:

Eventually, we reached the end of the road - which turned out to be an even rougher trail that continued for another two miles before delivering us to an impromptu tree-lined parking area. I made the rest of the trek on foot, arriving by the water as they were setting up the first shot of the day, a “walk and talk” backlit by the rising sun. It was a beautiful scene, one of those rare instances that someone bears witness to only on those rare occasions he wakes up 5:00 a.m. and takes the 90 minute drive down to the location to watch it being shot - or, better yet, just watches it on t.v. months later.

From there, we moved on to the bridge scene and got as far as blocking the power bar scene before lunch was called. Veal cutlets and peanut butter bars! Fortified, we hiked back into the bush to shoot the power bar scene followed by the search scene and ending with the green screen shot.

Jodelle F. - What can I say? She’s an incredibly talented young lady [who] is doing a fantastic job as little Harmony. Her character, McKay, and Sheppard play wonderfully off one another, and the fun between these three continues long after the scene has been shot.

Apparently, there are cougars in the area, but they’re mainly up in the mountains and only come down when it’s dark - like, say, this Friday when we do the night shoot. Also, excitement galore and a near-disaster averted after quick action was taken to fix a tear in David Hewelett’s pants (“Them aren’t sitting pants!“I warned him.). Ah, show business!
    The location (beautiful, ain't it?)
Crews wandering around in the morning
    Director Will Waring
Waring, Joe F. and...someone looking over the script
Jodelle Ferland and David Hewlett (cute, ain't she? )
Joe F. relaxing with a good book

My guess is it has something to do with the Wraith Civil War ending for some reason...

How can you tell? What in the title says end of "wraith civil war"? Is it the word "Harmony"? Which could mean lessened tension amongst the team and Carter? Couldn't it be an allied group of Travelers, Genii, and us? I mean why the wraith civil war of all things?

Shoot it could be about McKay having a peaceful bowel movement, without impending doom looming over head.

He said it was a guess. And why not the Wraith civil war? At this point we know nothing, so one guess is as good as another. What's wrong with speculating?

I'm not saying I agree or disagree...just defending the right to put forth guesses. Which is what this thread's here for isn't it?

That was fast. After viewing the blog entry, I was wondering how fast it would take to get a pre-airing discussion thread up over here.

Hmmm... I think it's got something to do with spiritual "harmony" ie some ascension thingy (then again, up always up for more ascension/Ancient eps ) or it's harmony between the section of the Wraith that have allied with us, Genii and the Travelers.

Hmmm...this is just a brainfart, but since this episode was made up to fill one last spot, I think it's unlikely that it's that arc-related. It'll probably be a good ole' standalone.

True. So that rules out anything to do with the Wraith/Genii/Traveler's situation. "Harmony" to me, implies something to do with Ascension, but maybe that's just me.
