For the next tourney, I'm thinking 2005 to the present. It's 6 yrs but it grabs more current shows with starting in '05 *cough* New DW *cough* rather than '06.

I went back and looked at when we started the tourney and it was in July 2007, so maybe start there.

But if are you still using the starting date for shows, I can understand wanting to go back a few years.

I'm fine with '05 and upward to 2011? Found some great new shows in those years. Still finding them too, through Netflix.

I went back and looked at when we started the tourney and it was in July 2007, so maybe start there.

That would only be 4 years. I flipped through the shows from then till now and frankly wasn't seeing a whole lot I liked. There's a ton of shows but not many I like to watch. I wanted to go back and grab a couple of other shows like DW and Torchwood. Technically the new Doctor Who wouldn't count if I were strict on that first original air date but it was included in the first ever tourney on this thread and then died an untimely death in this tourney we just had.

I'd apply the same rules as always. Shows have to have originally aired their first episode on Jan 1, 2005 or later ending with Dec 2011. Anything sooner would not count.


Here's shows starting in 2005 and later if wanted to start looking.

Don't plan on taking a break. I may try to get the first post up today along with getting a mod to edit the thread title and first post.

Favorite TV Show Tourney (2005-2011)

Welcome back to the regulars, and welcome to any new players that want to join in the fun. Thanks go to Joe (teal'c2006) for getting this thread started and running the first two tournaments.

RULES:

STEP 1: Nomination Round

• Each player gets 10 votes to nominate a show for the tourney. Show is automatically in. There will be no need to get someone else to second your nomination.

• To qualify for the tournament, the first episode of the show had to originally air between Jan 1, 2005 and Dec 31, 2011.

• Animated shows/cartoons, game shows, talk shows, mini series, etc are welcome.

• Feel free to suggest as many shows as you want and then beg, bribe ask others to vote for them. Clearly mark your actual votes though.

• The Nomination Round kicks off when this post is posted. I'll give it a week or so, and we'll get started.

• There might be a bonus round. We'll see how the initial nominating goes first.

STEP 2: Elimination Rounds

• Begins after the Nomination Round is complete.

• Tourney is played survivor style. Shows are eliminated each round till we have a final winner.

• Vote for your least favorite shows from the "What's Left" list each round.

• Please list your votes in alphabetical order.

• You only vote once per round.

• Tie breakers when we get down to 25 shows remaining.

• I'm going to continue with three counts a week. I'll count up the votes on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays...hopefully by noon my time which is CST US time and GMT -6:00 for the folks in the UK. Possibly sooner if I see all the regulars have voted, but I'll be counting on those days regardless of whether everyone has voted or not.

So get nominating! The next post will be updated with what's in.

And of course if anyone has suggestions or questions about the tourney, speak up.
