Earths Point Of Origin???...!!!

why is Earths PoO a pyramid with the sun above it this esentialy sugests that the Goa'uld built the gates, yes we all know they didnt or did the Goa'uld simply use the symbol to make it look like it has something to do with them...

any thoughts or ideas?

prolly cause it came from the movie which had a different story line. inwhich the alien Ra had deffently built the gate, once the stargate sg1 came out they changed the story line to the ancients. I don't think the writers really put any thought about the Point of Origin when they changed the story line

In the movie there was no evidence pointing towards Ra having built the gate... and even then if there were so many possible differences between the series and the films then why didnt they just change everything... unless the symbol just happens to fit in with the Goa'uld...

Well i was just watching the movie and now im watching Series One onwards and it was just a thought i thought was worth voicing...

The Earth PoO is an arc with a ring over it.

How the hell do you get that as the Sun over a pyramid with two funny little guys worshiping it?

Earth's PoO is basically an Å minus one brush stroke.

The Goa'uld (specifically Ra) probably made up the symbol with the two guys worshipping a Pyramid with the Sun over it after seeing Earth's PoO.

I have no idea where the symbol came from. The show never explained that. I would imagine it's ancient though. It does look more like a trangle without the bottom line than an arch to me.

Personally, I would refrine for asking "how the hell" in any post. It makes the poster sound rude and takes away from the rest of post.

In the Movie, didn't JS-Daniel say that the PoO for Abados' Gate were 3 Suns over a Pyramid? So, wouldn't it apply that Earth's was 1 Sun over a Pyramid?

isnt abydos PoO just the 3 suns in a triange shape but no it wouldnt make sense for it to be a pyramid with a son above it i guess that when it was buried the people that rebelled and buried the gate assumed that the PoO reffered to the pyramids that they were forced to build...
So it may not be the Goa'uld that made it look like it was theirs perhaps just a misinterpretation by the followers who rebeled and made the cover stone for the gate...

yes it does look like that but that isnt what were discussing we are discussing whether its an accident by the movie or whether the Goa'uld or their followers misportrayed the symbol and made it look like the Goa'uld had built the gates, no they didnt i was just wondering whether it was just an accident or something...

The triangle with the circle over it from the egyptian gate was not the original stargate on earth, hence it is not the original symbol for Earth point of origin. The Antartic gate was the original PoO for earth and was a horizontal like with a half circle over it. Kinda like a land-of-the-midnight-sun kinda looking symbol. The antartic gate is also one of the oldest in the galaxy.
