Dropa Stones in Stargate SG-1? (SPOILERS)

SPOILERS for Memento Mori and Bad Guys

    Spoiler:
Watching the recap in Bad Guys, I noticed this:

Looks like a Dropa Stone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dropa, http://www.crystalinks.com/dropa.html)to me. Pretty cool little link to a real paranormal thing, and not one of the most popular, either.

Interesting. Maybe the next series will explore these Dropa stones and the mythology. that would be an interesting story considering it is similar to the current SG mythology.

from the Wiki link you provided:

The Dropa (also known as Dropas, Drok-pa or Dzopa, Chinese: ??? ) are, according to certain controversial writers, a race of dwarf-like extraterrestrials who landed near the Chinese-Tibetan border some twelve thousand years ago.

it would go in line with the whole SG universe.

Say hello to my little friend!!

Or maybe the whole thing is made up, Wiki is full of unverified crap.

If thats true then that would have been an ideal angle in which to introduce the Furlings.

An average a Wikipedia article has 3 errors, while the Encyclopedia Britannica has 4 - Tweakers.net

            Hey Asgard are dwar-like aliens...

            And Furlings are

"The exercise revealed numerous errors in both encyclopaedias, but among 42 entries tested, the difference in accuracy was not particularly great: the average science entry in Wikipedia contained around four inaccuracies; Britannica, about three.

Are we talking typos here, or huge honkin' fabricated chunks of home-made hooey?

Sorry, I don't see it. For one, the only similarity is that they're both round. Besides, the hole in the middle is square.

Heck, a donut looks like a dropa stone when held up to a light.

My first reaction was "hey, I've seen that before !"... I did some research on Google and the only thing I found was that http://www.joelscoins.com/china.htm
old Chineses coins that look exactly like the stone in the book !

But I'm sure I've seen a big rock like that before...

Edit: I've also found this site http://www.charm.ru/library/faq004.htm that explain why they are made like that, the square is the earth/china and the circle around is heaven (Stargate universe "ascension plane" ?)

Edit²: Also found this with a nice picture
The ancient Chinese thought that the earth was a square covered with a large dome-shaped sky. The designs on this coin symbolically express the "Round Sky, Square Earth" world view and cosmology of ancient China.
The ancient Chinese believed that if you lived in perfect harmony with the workings of the universe, things would happen as you wished.

I first learned of the Dropa stones by watching a History Channel doc on them, so they are not some net myth or anything...

The History Channel also did a show on Bigfoot.

At any rate, they debunked the myth in that show.

what i didnt get at all about the episode is that THEY have such a vast knowledge of Gouauld artifacts.

(plus its even a parallel planet to earth with a guy like Daniel!!)

Then Laundry just went like "well they buried the gate", "we can't do that here"

WTF ???? THey were looking for the Ancients artifact to begin with and they don't even plan to send a ship to that gate address??

This episode was funny as hell with Daniel's acting ("don't give me the eye", "there's a whole ettiquette about this")

BUT is like Atlantis' "Sister City", it looses big on opportunities! (ZPMs, the mentioned Pyramids, the Cartouge, the new gate addresses, a society in equal/or better technological advantage as Earth, a potential ally and safe gate address.

it could have been easily a 2 parter or a 90 min episode!

(They should send the Deadalus now that it has a cloaked shield) and scan the planet from orbit, AT LEAST!

                              Any thoughts?
