The problem with Pete was that he pushed too hard too fast for the commitment and didn't let Sam fully work out her issues. Had he propossed at the end of season 8 rather than in the begining he may have had a chance but buying the house and making wedding plans in the middle of the final fight with Anubis was a bit much. In my opinion. (I'm not into Sam/Jack either)

You're right that he pushed too fast while she was still dealing with her 'ishoos'. But if he came back before the end of S10 or in a film...? (wishful thinking I know)

Sam/Barret are great, as MaeveBran said Pete wanted everything to happen too fast, but Barret didn't push her at all *sigh* I'm sure they would have been really good together !! There was a complicity there.

I loved him more for that lol well as you said he was under mind control so that was not really him, and if he does have a darker side, that's good with me too. But he seemed really like a nice guy before that ep, but not "challenging" enough for Sam maybe.
