Heroes: ORIGINAL series News/discussion/articles & more

If the mods can sticky this, people can add as they find articles/links.

Since the show is 'old' (internet-wise), there are already a ton of articles on it.

Here are links only, as articles are copyright. Click to access full documents (no guarantee they'll remain online so copy to your PC if you want to collect). Stuck a few excerpts under each URL

NBC Universal Licenses Heroes to BBC

LONDON, November 27: NBC Universal International Television Distribution has licensed Heroes, NBC’s popular new series, to the BBC for airing on BBC TWO next year.

We're talking about Hiro Nakamura, the giddy "Star Trek"-loving office drone played by Masi Oka on NBC's "Heroes" (8 p.m. Mondays on KUSA-Channel 9). Fervent fans of the show have been charmed by his gleeful energy and how he scrunches his face like a "constipated hamster" before traveling through time or space.

All the attention has been a big rush for Oka, 31, who after studying math and computer science at Brown University, pursued acting while working in the San Francisco Bay Area at George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic.

Once upon a time, if you wore horned-rimmed glasses, you were considered a high-tech geek. Pocket protector included.

But now there's a slightly sinister — dare we say dangerously sexy? — air among men in such frames.

Take Mr. Bennett, known to fans as "Horn-Rimmed Glasses" in the surprise NBC hit Heroes. He appears to be an ordinary Odessa businessman who works at a paper plant. But we know better

That's just a sampling. To find news/articles on HEROES (or its cast), use these search engines

    http://news.google.com/
    http://news.yahoo.com/
    http://www.altavista.com/news/
    http://news.ask.com/news

Those are the main search engines for news. Since "Heroes" is a very generic word, you might want to add the words nbc or tv to the search.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813715/ will provide you with cast names if you want to search by actor.

Yup, I've providing the details of searching. Got too much on my plate right now to search for HEROES stuff but it's very easy. In fact, many of these search engines (Google and Yahoo especially) let you set 'news alerts' so the links are sent straight to your email. Yeah, it's pretty easy.

If I may suggest, let's combine the index of sources for this post, the official sites and spoiler sources posts - and put them all on the first page of a new sticky thread called something like "Heroes Official Sites, News and Spoiler Sources" The goal will be for that to serve as a primary informations source or index (esp. for newbies) - to be added as needed - BUT discussion about actual news/spoiler should happen in other, new threads by topic, as needed. Just give fair warning to the Heroes community here if there are any posts in those sites that can be duplicated/moved to other areas before being deleted. What do you think? -lis

Here's a new article praising Heroes. Two gentlemen who write for the A/V section of The Onion discussed their favorite TV shows of 2006. Heroes is mentioned quite a bit.

                'Heroes' returns Monday
                Posted 1/16/2007 10:34 PM ET

                Excerpts:

"We tried to learn from the mistakes of other serialized shows that have not run contiguous episodes back to back," series creator Tim Kring says. "What was decided is that we would do it in 'pods.' The first one was 11 episodes, which was very, very difficult to do." The second pod has six new consecutive episodes, followed by another break in March. Heroes will finish the season with a five-episode stretch ending in May.

A couple of new heroes will enter the picture: One, played by Christopher Eccleston, will serve as mentor to Peter (Milo Ventimiglia). Another, Hana, introduced in the online graphic novels, can hear wireless information, Kring says. "It's sort of the ultimate postmodern superhero."

January 22, 2007 -- WHEN "Heroes" returns to night, the newest charac ter will be difficult to see - because he'll be the invisible man.
Claude, played by Christopher Eccleston, a British actor who also has appeared on the sci-fi series "Doctor Who," is named after Claude Raines, who played the original invisible man in the 1933 film.

What does 'Heroes' have in common with 'South Park'?

Who are the heroes of the "Heroes"? The cast of the hit NBC show, which returns with a new episode Monday, was asked that question at a press panel last week on the show at the Television Critics Association convention in Pasadena, Calif.
Tawny Cypress, who plays Simone, said that as a kid, she liked the Wonder Twins ("they had each other, and they became really cool things, like animals and water").

                        Roberts joins 'Heroes'

The cast of "Heroes" will grow a little bit more this season with the addition of the ever-busy Eric Roberts.
The one-time "Less Than Perfect" star will join the first-year NBC hit later this season. He'll be playing a character named Thompson, an associate of Jack Coleman's shadowy HRG, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

January 21, 2007 -- It was one of the most dramatic moments in a series that's consistently wowed viewers with its ability to intrigue, thrill and surprise - the moment when all the heroes came together and tried to save one of their own, Peter Petrelli (played by Milo Ventimiglia), from exploding.

Even though it turned out to be Peter's nightmare, this momentous event begged the slogan-worthy question, "How do you stop a man from exploding?"

Unfortunately for fans of NBC's hit drama "Heroes," it'll be a couple months before they find out.
