How did the Hologram know? (Spoilers for Camelot and Pegasus Project)

In the episode Camelot, the hologram of Merlin seemed to know that SG-1 was after the weapon that he had created.

Is it possible that it was the real Merlin and he wanted them to know what the weapon really was, just like Morgan La Fay did in the Pegasus Project?
