Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?

AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

JMS posted this to Babylon 5 newsgroup today

Also, CBC has a standing deal with Sirius Radio to pick up its shows in
the US. There will also be a deal sometime after that with NPR, BBC,
and elsewhere. The series will eventually be released on CD as well.

To the other questions that have arisen: we're looking at 3 half-hour
episodes/stories for the first DVD, with additional features and the
like in the other half hour. Each story will be worked around a given
established character, the specifics of which are still TBD contingent
        upon availabilities and other issues.

We have a budget, we're greenlit, we're going.

As for what prompted the interest now at WB...it's only recently that
they've finally run through all 5 seasons, which for many years now has
been a constant source of revenue, and I think they would love to have
something to continue to with. The recent news re: Changeling probably
didn't hurt, but the deal was actually being negotiated long before
there *was* a feature film deal with Imagine. As I recall, we
finalized the deal right around the time that the Imagine news was
        announced.

It was a rather extraordinary 24 hours.

I held off saying anything until I was cleared by WB to announce it as
a go project. Ultimately, whether we shoot in Vancouver or elsewhere
will be a function of the deal that gets made locally.

They should continue/remake "Crusade". I want to see how that ends, since it depicts an important timeframe in the B5 universe.

Well in truth an ep of BSG, or Stargate is only 40-42 minutes. My reading of this is half of the minimovie or whatever will be the story of that person and the other half is be something else to do with that person but that all depend on what actors they get to come back and start in these. So anything could happen. But I think these are being made so that they can be aired on TV as well. So when the half hour would be if its on TV, but most likely I would guess that the tv show was have a overall running time of 40+minutes on a DVD

This is great news hopefully it will actually happen.
I would love to see more of Crusade but I don't think that will happen.

... I'm fairly new to Babylon 5 (In fact, just approaching "War Without End Pt 1" which should be good if my source is correct) and see when you folks say "letting JMS keep control of creativity" etc. what happened? Did more power go to execs for the made for TV movies, Crusade, Legend of the Rangers etc.?

                          essentially...yes.

with B5, as it bounced around networks, he had to constantly fight to keep control over his project.

Crusade started off poorly, being shown out of order and with too much nagging/interference from the execs on everything...costumes, sets, dialogue, everything.

As for Rangers...best not to talk about that.
                          Thanks!

I will believe it when it actually goes into production.

For all his talents, JMS tends to jump the gun when talking about upcoming projects that aren't yet finalized. He's gotten fans excited about other things that never happened.

And this is something that really seems hard to pull off. I certainly would love it to really involve MAJOR characters, but something tells me "the new advertures of Lockley" is more likely.

I would love to see that happen, especially after what JMS said in the commentaries about where the show was going.

Never speak of that garbage again. It doesn't deserve to have Babylon 5 in the title, lol. I still can't believe JMS wrote that piece of junk.
