Barrel looked long enough and the part where the gun muzzle would be looks a little heavier. Besides looks like he has a loop to hold the gun in place.

Barrel weight wouldn't really affect whether or not it flies out. Even scabbards, the good ones at least, were designed to provide a degree of resistance when drawing a sword so they don't go flying out.
And I don't see a loop. It looks like a bad speed scabbard.
