Just how fast is the velocity of the Goa'uld energy cannons on one of their ships?

Ok. So we know that the rail guns on board the Daedalus fire at rates around mach 5. We also know that the energy weapons on board a Goa'uld space ship fires much faster, but does anyone here know exactly what the speed of the energy beams are?

Speed of projectile. The railgun does not win, watch OTG when the Odyssey opens up on the LA ships, the railgun fire takes far longer to reach its target than does the hatak energy weapons.

The rail gun is more like a stream of intermittent energy, the hatak is actually 'shots'...i think the rate of fire of the rail gun is so much faster that it actually balences out the speed of proectile.
Sure the hatak fire 1 shot/ 30secs butthe rail gun shoots 25 shots every/30secs. so it actualy doesnt matter.
The rate of fire is more important...if the rail gun was more powerfull, or higher callibre then the hatak cannon then we would win all the time against hataks.
the problem with us and the wraith is the reverse, our shields can handle thier firepower but they fire so much faster than us and with more ships that our shields fail.

They also have more turreted emplacements on their ships than we are used to dealing with.

yeah but the hatak has turrets too, and so do we... its only the ori that dont have capital ship weapon's that are turreted...oh and the asgard...actually that quite strange.

Why is it strange? Different races prefer different things. Is it definite that turreted weapons are better than all of the other types?

And we don't know that the Ori are the most advanced race. The Asgard seemed to hold out against them and the Asgard couldn't even hold out against the replicators.

That's because the replicator weapons could phase through their shields in order to board their ships. Also, the replicators could supe up their shields. The only reason the asgard held out was because they only took secondary weapons fire from the Ori ships. If you watch Camelot very closely, you can see that the Goa'uld hataks can hold their ground against some of those secondary weapons for a short while. What's that tell you?

You know what we're talking about. Projectile weapons and energy weapons.

well sam and jack dodged a staff blast in upgrades, so i dont imagine its very fast.

and when you think about it our rail gun fire should be a very powerful weapon. their bursts look like 4 shots, each traveling at mach 5 after it traveled 250 miles so at closer range it should be going alot faster. one round would leave a pretty large impact. where gould staff cannons dont seem to leave that much of a crater.
