Hi Morjana - thanks for your continued efforts to keep us updated. Have you seen anything at all on the ratings for Lockdown or Zero Hour? Seems kind of curious to me that they were so hot to trot to get the ratings for the premiers out right away but now we see nothing and it's almost 2 weeks since Lockdown. I am very curious to see if SG1 and Atlantis held up their numbers or not. Thanks.

The SciFi Channel reports their ratings through SciFi Wire -- and they're obtained from Nielsen's Galaxy Report, which is reported about three to four weeks AFTER the episode airs.

We'll just have to be patient for the ratings.

What do you mean? The ratings for the premieres were given out because they broke records, but they didn't show up on the little box of nielsen galaxy ratings till yah, few weeks later.

Wow...Atlantis has beaten SG-1 twice in a row so far? I like both shows, I just want them both to do well, so I don't care who beats whom. But I am a little surprised.

More thoughts: I suppose it probably means that Atlantis is attracting new viewers, or renewing the interest of those viewers who have complained about the past few seasons of SG-1 (which I don't understand/agree with, but that's another thread). It's probably a good sign for the long-term future of Atlantis.

Well it's first 'victory' was against a repeat. But I too was surprised that it beat the original during it's second week. It will be interesting to see how this develops. In fact if Atlantis goes well and ratings for SG1 errode due to RDA's diminished presence it will probably remove any chance of SciFi wanting a ninth season.

That's not too surprising. Atlantis not only has a fair amount of SG-1 viewers, but as a new series it's bound to pick up new viewers who haven't or don't want to go into the entire backstory of SG-1.

It's only good that Atlantis gets good ratings. Then we know it wont be cancelled after S1.

I don't think scifi will cancel our beloved Atlantis, for one thing, good ratings , nice stories to tell, and yah, scifi doesn't have a non-SG show thats as successful

That's the first thing I looked at. Many programs open with large numbers *cough XFL cough* especially those that are spinoffs of a movie or TV show *cough My Big Fat Greek Life cough* but it's how they hold up over the season that determines it's success. Atlantis dropoff is 22%, while SG1, with a week in between new episodes is 17%. It will be interesting to see how well Atlantis holds up over the next few weeks.
