The forum was down for me as well. Obviously someone didn't feed the hamster.

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

Gateworld.net and the forum were not accessible all day yesterday -- UK time -- from 9am onwards.
At the moment the main page is still off-limits to me. I'm still getting an error message.

What was weird is that I could get to the front page if I typed in the url, but not if I went to the home link given in the error message.

Thanks to all for getting it running again. I'd really miss it if anything happened.

Can someone please tell me how to edit a post for spelling or typos? I do not see an edit icon next to my posts. Is this option not available to Probies or am I missing something?

You should have an "Edit Post" icon to the left of the "Reply" icon.

You can't edit as probie. What would happen back in the old days, a spammer would wait until a mod approved the post and then put the spam in

I know we've got a SC-Fi and Fantasy Books Discussion thread, but do we have ones for regular fiction and non-fiction?

We used to have a few general non-scifi book discussion threads in Off Topic Chatter but they haven't been used for at least a decade.I remember there being one for their Book Club discussion and one that was about novels and poetry.
Go ahead and start a new one over there!

Started a thread for non sci-fi/fantasy books, "Wha non sci-fi/fantasy book are you reading?" but I just noticed I left out a "T" in the title.

    How do I correct this?

I'd say report the post and let the mods know, but Bagpuss said that the report feature was acting up so you should just PM her to problem and she'll fix it for you.

For a future reference, you have an hour to edit a title after you create a thread. After that you have let the mods.

    Duly noted. Thanks again.

I sent a nice polite PM to Bagpuss about it, but she seems to be offline at the moment. No matter, I'm not in a hurry.
