    Reruns of next week's episodes

    So, I've been taping (and keeping) Stargate episodes since S6, and I use six-hour tapes. But I only put five episodes on a tape, because when I set my VCR, I have to pad by a couple of minutes each way, as I don't want the sixth episode to get cut off...

    The point is, I started S8 of SG-1 and S1 of Atlantis on a new tape with The Lowdown, then both premieres, for the five hours. I now have episodes 3 and 4 of each series on the next tape...but next week, I have a problem. I obviously can't tape the episodes when they run back-to-back, it will undoubtedly cut off the end of Atlantis. My only option is to make sure I'm home to switch tapes so I can catch the late rerun of Atlantis. UNLESS they do some sort of other rerun like they did on Tuesday this week. Anyone know if that's going to happen? It seems like the SciFi.com and Gateworld schedules don't post these things far enough in advance. (To my knowledge, Gateworld did not post that "Lockdown" would be rerun until the day of. Other than where I read that in the forums.)

    So in the end, this may be a stupid question, and easily fixed if I just stay home on Friday night, but I'd like some flexibility...
    It's antithetical to my character and I don't like it on a fundamental level.

    Second VCR?

      I'm confused. When I tape episodes off my DVR onto tape (after the season), I put two episodes per tape. They are two-hour tapes, although I believe I could slap six hours on there if I ran the VCR in EP mode, which I don't because of the even-more-crappy-quality that results.

      I would recommend using a 2hr tape for each Friday night and taping both Stargate and Atlantis. Yes, they're labeled as "2-hour", but in my many years of using VHS, I can tell you that the manufacturers pad the tapes with at least five extra minutes and it's never been a problem. You'd end up with more tapes, though. The other alternative is to use the 6hr tapes and just put 4hrs on them...or stay home...or get a second VCR.

          Ummm dude....reruns. Just leave its stop on the tape, and forget it until the end of the season. Or when you come home, there should be a rerun at midnight.
