I'm new here so I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but there are way too many posts in this thread to read them all!
I was wondering what Teal'c means when he says 'I am in your debt major Carter'. I've watched all the episodes and I don't get what it's a reference to...
    Can anyone help?

Carter saves him from having to go along with O'Neill and Daniel, so hence him being in Carter's proverbial debt.

Ohhh okay, thanks! I always thought it was a reference to a previous episode.
As for Space Race, I read some opinions here. I'd like to add I liked the episode. People mention that they don't like the American style and commercialism, but I think in most episodes the aliens have a completely different lifestyle, I can't imagine the Nox or Asgard with big tv-screens broadcasting races... So I thought this was fun!

Well, right now, giving this further thought, I believe this is one of very rare times that technology, and time and energy are used for fun, joy, and happiness between people that, furthermore, are from different species!... That, to me, is the wisest use of time and energy we can make. Along with discovering new things, science, etc., for those who enjoy those too. Instead of going to war and trying to survive all the time. By saying that, I don't mean I didn't enjoy the show, far from it (I obviously, like everybody else here, love Stargate more than everyone else here ^^'' ).
What I mean is, doing things that make us and others happy, while necessarily being free from Goa'ulds or any such outside threat, is what I would call growing up wisely for any intelligent species. Demonstrating wisdom.
That concept is called indulgence. Which obviously has to make me think of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who are an international movement who, in essence, do promote happiness, joy, life, etc. =)

....doing things that make us and others happy.
Sums up this episode nicely. It did make a nice change that we saw a society that didn't have the problem of being oppressed by the Goa'uld and found time to chill out. Whilst they had their problems with the greedy, corrupt and bigoted members of their society, along with the criminal element, it was on the whole a society that lived in peace and had the chance to indulge in various leisure activities.

It also made a change that they were pretty relaxed about sharing their superior technology with Sam and actually appreciated what the people of Earth could offer, even if it was only as far as working together to win a space race! It was a nice way for Sam to increase her knowledge and have some fun as well.

One of the funny eps without having to save a planet, a galaxy or all of the universe.
Carter combining fun and learning envied by O'Neill due to taking part in the race.
Spies and traitors amongst staff members of a company - sounds familiar.
                  Good one.

A filler, but definitely an entertaining filler -- a space race, right up Major Carter's alley.

We return to Warrick and the Ceberus, which has long since returned to Hebridan since last we saw it in season 6. And Warrick needs help to win a race, through space.
Carter pretty much invites herself to join him as his co-pilot, and we're off.

Daniel and Jack get to do the boring diplomatic stuff, while Teal'c brilliantly worms his way out of that by making Carter his accomplice. Brilliant!

The broadcasting of the event is a nice touch to the episode.

We have some mandatory mishaps, sabotages and ultimately Warrick gives up winning in order to make sure that the guy who's cheating won't win the race. Nice touch.

There's a Teal'c and Eamon getting in trouble, and Daniel and Jack getting them out.

And Carter's definitely going to kick their butts next year.
                    How could she not.

How would you rate SG-1's "Space Race?"

                    Excellent
                    Good
                    Fair
                    Poor
                    Terrible

Its funny with the fake commercials and I did like a look into how Serrakian society but I felt a lot was glossed over. They tried to do too much with the race and the human conspiracy. They should of tried to do one thing. You could easily had made the episode entertaining with the race without an antagonist. This is another one im on the fence about. I'll give it a fair. 13/15 and 8:10

Carter was so cute when she wanted to win the race They should have made another episode in the season 8
I liked Teal´c and his attempt to stay with Sam and she didn´t let him down
But I wanted more of Jack and Daniel.
