Looks like a map/layout of the hatches on the island to me.
You can clearly see the I AM HERE on the bottom, with the line pointing to the hatch with the Swan drawn on it.
And the one toward the top left has the Medical logo on it.
Looks like there's some streams flowing through the octagon too.

    Very interesting.

sweet! this saved me a lot of trouble.
any idea what "CV" is regarding the CVII and CVIII, CVIV?
south west of the ? there is a hatch symbol, under it there are 3 square root symbols, one anser is 4, the other is 8, and the last on is 15.

I wonder what accident would cause a site to become inactive...
        Daniel: You..stupid son of a *****
        Jack: Hey, you're welcome...

really wish i could read all the writing...

it looks as if all the bunkers/hatches/areas/whatever you wanna call them were connected to the middle "?" one originally but obviously all the links have been cut, where the concretes been poured? But i notice theres 3 passage ways coming from the swan bunker (as well as one swan room being cut off too) that'd be a good way to cut a passage.

Was there ever any mention of the other two passageways though?, like jack or sayid saying "Yeah theres 2 more walls just like this on down that way" when they were investigating that first wall?

Oh also correct me if i'm wrong but isn't there only 6 bunkers? Then why is there 8 on the map? (Well 7 bunkers and the main "?" in the middle), or is it that there's 6 main bunkers for all the research, and 6 films to go with them each, and the rest are just storage areas and crap like that?

ps someone tell me why if you chose to crawl under a blast door you'd choose a spot where the big "locking" pins (on the bottom) are? Thats just inviting your self to get impaled

[edit] Just found this on lostpedia

Top left looks like "Quarantine Of --------------- CVII Staff"

My Latin's a little rusty, but let's see if I can figure this out.

Aegrescit medendo - "[...] becomes sick"

                    Sursum Corda - "Path(?) upwards"

Malum consilium quod mutari non potest - possibly "Bad advice because the change is not significant" or "Because there is no authority, council is bad."

Cogito ergo doleo - "I think, therefore I suffer."

Ut sit magna, tamen certe lenta ira deorum est - "It is great now, but certainly it will decline."

Credo nos in fluctu eodem esse - "I believe that we are in flux in this place."

I think that's the gist of it. It's been a while since high school, though. I could be wrong.
Through Life's dull road, so dim and dirty
                    I have dragged to three-and-thirty.
What have these years left to me?
                    Nothing, except thirty-three.

did a search on some of the latin.

                      possible translations:

sursum corda - lift up your hearts

Malum consilium quod mutari non potest - It's a bad plan that can't be changed

Cogito Ergo Doleo - I think therefore I am depressed

Ut sit magna, tamen certe lenta ira deorum est - The wrath of the gods may be great, but it certainly is slow.

Credo nos in fluctu eodem esse - I think we're on the same wavelength

                      I'm really interested in what a D.I.M.G team is...Dharma Initiative M.G. ??
                      Thanks!

Wow. My Latin really IS rusty.

It's interesting, though. If your translations are accurate, then all that writing is just insane, frustrated ramblings. Who put it there, I wonder? Someone with a good bit of time, it seems: time to piece together the clues and time to go mad. Probably not Desmond; I doubt he had time, and he didn't seem THAT crazy yet.

I'm interested to see if they'll advance this and have them make an effort to find the rest of the hatches. I assume each one has an external door like the medical hatch and their own hatch.

I'm fairly disappointed with this season..they've done a lot of good work integrating the other half of the plane and some interesting character eps...but nothing to really advance the point of being on the island...i think they need to persue this map for the rest of the season.
                          Thanks!

Since we have no episode discussion thread yet:

Anyone else assume the station(s) were shutdown remotely to stop the resupply plane(s) from crashing?

I'd kinda been toying with that idea as well, but didn't want to post anything until there was an official thread...
                              Thanks!
