Finally! A definitive answer on the real size of Atlantis

I'm subscribed to a Yahoo group devoted to Stargate spoilers and other information (interviews with cast/crew, appearances, etc). Sort of like the gateworld news articles but MUCH more active. Anyways, this message was recently posted and I thought I'd share it:

    Hi,

From a question I asked Bruce Woloshyn, I thought it could interest you
    to know the answer:

So, here is the real size of Atlantis:

    The city is appox:
1.33 km from north to south
1.24 km from west to east
680 m from top to bottom
320 m from top to the surface of the ocean

    Source: http://board.thescifiworld.net/viewt...hp?p=1771#1771
so there we have it, the real size of Atlantis per Bruce Woloshyn.

Edit: apparently the original message is no longer present, or at least I couldn't find it.

In other words, it's about the size of two Ha'taks and much smaller than Anubis' flagship.

    Gee. What a nifty city.

        No....This can't be right!
Y'know something, FRACK scaling! It's all a bunch of bullwucky these days....Let's just concentrate on the plot not the size of everything....*Sighs*

Sorry, lately the scaling in this show has been getting on my nerves more and more.

Stargate Gateworld RPG. All are welcome!|Jim Andersons Bio.

Pfft. Why let a little thing like "reality" get in the way of a good ranting?

I just realized something. It can't possibly be 1.33 kms across. The Daedalus landed on one of its piers and it looked pretty damn small in comparison to the city. So the Daedalus is, what, 100 meters across?

Most quoted sources say 300m end to end, give or take. So that means that the Daedalus would take up over half of a pier all on its own. Joy.

Problem is, it didn't in "Allies".

It seems to be that in the beginning the city seemed so much bigger than it does now.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN, NO BLUE JELLO?

yea, it was a large city in Rising.

i also remember a few points in the show where they said the city was very large, taking a while to search the hole thing. but if its that big, they could have it searched and explored in under a month.

I'm guessing the people who actually did the CGI-model has a scale
