They reverse engineered everything from a goauld glider. but why not the engines?

still using crap jet engines. prolly still use jetfuel. do the oil companies own them so much that even secret craft still use jet fuel?

They did reverse engineer their engines, but only certain parts of it , inertal dampeners. It was explain in one of the episodes that they did not even noo how they work. Now why did not they reverse their weapo systems.

I think reverse engineering the gliders to make exact copies would not be interesting for the story.

However, it would make much more sense to reverse it all.

I dont think it would have been believable if they have reverse engineered all the tech on the death gilder straight away, some bits are going to be more complex than others. And if they had the understood the tech completely then they surely wouldnt have built a hybrid, that nearly killed Teal'c and O'Neill, they probably would have built there own design from scratch. That way there would have been no suprise program that took control of the x-301.

Basically, we were able to get an idea of what the death glider engines do to work but not necessarily the principles behind how they work or the control needed to fully duplicate them.
