John Griffiths 1931-2020
Sunday, 12 January, 2020 - Reported by Marcus
http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2020/01...griffiths.html
The Film Editor John Griffiths has died at the age of 89.
John Griffiths was a member of the team responsible for the first-ever piece of Doctor Who screened, the original opening title sequence.
In 1963 Griffiths was working for the BBC at Ealing film studios when he was introduced to Verity Lambert and Waris Hussein, Doctor Who's first producer and director. They gave him the raw material of a recent studio session where they had filmed the output of an electronic camera looking at its own viewfinder and asked him to edit the material to provide a new title sequence for their new TV Series Dr. Who.
The sequence Griffiths produced, when combined with the music composed by Ron Grainer and realized by Delia Derbyshire, became one of the most iconic title sequences in television history, heralding the beginning of each episode for the next three years.
As film editor, John Griffiths also worked on the 1964 story The Dalek Invasion of Earth, editing the famous footage of the Daleks patrolling a deserted London. As production editor, he worked on the Third Doctor story The Mind of Evil, appearing in front of the camera as an extra in the story.
After retiring from the BBC John Griffiths retired to Worthing. He died on Thursday 9th January.

What's to stop someone who's solved it going online and posting their solution to Facebook or whatever?sigpic
Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

I'm not even going to take the 1 minute it would require to answer that question... (by googling - is there a cheat sheet to XYZ Escape Room)
I'm sure it's been done.
Now, where's the escape button for Orphan 55? I needed it several times...back on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@The-Cosmic-Hobo

It wasn't that bad, I quite enjoyed it - with the exception of the heavy handed "Here's the moral of the story, kids!" at the end.sigpic

Reminded me of "Moonlighting", a rom-com back in the mid eighties. They would constantly break the 4th window and talk directly to the nationwide TV audience. (This was a top-rated show in the pre-cable era, Huge audience numbers.)

Anyone who doesn't know Moonlighting needs their eyes glued shut. If nothing else - it gave us Brucey - but there really was some great writing behind that show.back on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@The-Cosmic-Hobo
