Classic Doctor Who companion Peter Purves helps recreate lost episode Mission to the Unknown

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

Friday, 22 February, 2019 - Reported by Marcus

      Comic Relief
is offering one lucky winner the chance to have a special private breakfast with Jodie Whittaker on the set of Doctor Who.

Jodie Whittaker and companion Mandip Gill would like to share a coffee and breakfast with you and a friend - to discuss the show, explore some theories, revisit some highlights. After breakfast, you will go on a tour of the Doctor Who set, watch the filming and meet the stars, and get to speak to the crew who make the show.

The offer is a prize in a special draw to raise money for comic relief. Entries can be made online and cost £10 each. To enter you need to be over 18. The guest may be under the age of 18 provided they are over 14 years old and the winner is their parent or guardian.

Other offers available include a private breakfast with Sir David Attenborough at the Natural History Museum, Afternoon Tea with the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family from The Crown and a fry-up with Louis Tomlinson in his favourite London cafe.

Emma Freud, Executive Producer of Red Nose Day, has curated these once in a lifetime experiences. She said:
I’m SO proud of this year's Prizeathon. It’s the best list of unique, cheeky and daring prizes we were able to compile. Every one of them has been given by the celebrity themselves - and we're absolutely delighted to have Sir David Attenborough on board for breakfast at the Natural History Museum and a wander with him through his favourite exhibition before the museum opens

Money raised through bids and prize draw entries will go to Red Nose Day, which is back on Friday 15th March. Comic Relief is a UK charity with an aim to create a just world, free from poverty by funding and investing in organisations across the UK and around the world to tackle some of the key issues of our time.

Since 1985, Comic Relief has raised over £1.25 billion.

        Benton has written an autobiography!

I don't know why, but I've always had a soft spot for Sergeant Benton. Probably comes down to Day of the Daleks...
BENTON: Ah, you've saved my life.
(But before he can even cut into a piece of cheese.)
        YATES [OC]: Sergeant Benton!
        BENTON: Sir! (sotto) No.
YATES: Just what do you think you're up to, Benton©
BENTON: I was just checking, sir.
YATES: Yes, well I want you to go and check on number three patrol. Move, Sergeant Benton.
        BENTON: Sir.
        (Benton leaves.)
        YATES: Jo, how thoughtful.
(Yates has a drink of the wine.)
JO: That wasn't very kind of you.
        YATES: RHIP, Jo.
        JO: Pardon©
YATES: Rank Has Its Privileges. Thank you.

I always have too. I always thought that he should have been the Brigadier's right-hand man from Terror of the Autons onwards rather than Captain Yates. Don't get me wrong, I liked Yates, but Benton was a bit more relatable. He's more of a salt-of-the-earth type of guy. Having said that, if Yates hadn't been brought in by Doctor Who's writers, it could have been Benton betraying everyone in Invasion of the Dinosaurs and I'm very glad that didn't happen.

Not totally sure what the point is of doing a VR project, in 2019, that looks like it could've been done in Super Mario 64 (1996!).

                    Return of the Judoon
Tuesday, 21 May, 2019 - Reported by Marcus

                    http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2019/05...of-judoon.html

When Jodie Whittaker returns to Doctor Who next series, the Thirteenth Doctor and her friends won’t be the only familiar faces. The show, currently filming, is set to welcome back The Judoon as one of the Doctor’s fearsome adversaries.

More than twelve years after they stampeded onto screens to terrorise the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones on the moon in 2007’s “Smith and Jones", the rhino-headed, brutish intergalactic police are returning to cause havoc and thrill children and adults alike.

These ruthless enforcers are on a deadly mission: but what for? And why has it brought them to present-day Gloucester?

The episode will also star acclaimed actor Neil Stuke.

Stuke has an established career on stage, television and films, and is a two times BAFTA nominee. Stuke’s recent credits include Doctor Foster, Silk and Silent Witness.

                    Chris Chibnall, Showrunner said
No! Sho! Blo! The Judoon are storming back into Doctor Who in full force, and the streets of Gloucester aren’t safe. If anyone has anything to hide, confess now. The Judoon are taking no prisoners, and will stop at nothing to fulfil their mission! The whole team on Doctor Who are delighted and scared in equal measure to welcome them back: one of many treats we’ve got in store for viewers next series. And we’re over the moon (with Judoon), to be welcoming the wondrous Neil Stuke as guest star. We can’t wait to show you what happens when his path crosses with the Thirteenth Doctor.

Perhaps they will use the amazing return of the Judoon to add some depth to the characters that really thus far have had absolutely no importance to anything they have appeared in... other than to be "guards/police".

Can't say this news was the least big exciting...
