It’s the show that doesn’t end, it goes on and on my friends, some people started watching not knowing what it was, but they will be watching forever just because it’s the show that doesn’t end…..

I never saw anything non-PG with the Air Force woman but, then again, I wasn't really looking. I have no problem at all with nudity in t.v. and films. I've got a European parent who laments about how backwards and uptight Americans are so I grew up with a more bohemian attitude towards nudity. I just wasn't expecting it as I had never seen the Showtime version when I bought the season 1 DVD's. Like I said it didn't bug me but I can see how it would be a nasty shock for somebody who wasn't partial to nudity on t.v. to have that come on screen. The disc 1 is clearly labeled rated R and the only disc to do so but I didn't even notice that until after I had watched it.

Although I'm not so sure the distinction is still as prevalent, in the US, premium cable = naughty bits. Unlike some other countries, especially in Europe, we 'merkins don't get to see a lot of nudity in our everyday media...I'm talking about regular (not "gentleman's") magazines and such. When I was a kid, if you or a friend had HBO or Showtime, that immediately meant that you could see a "boob". That's what it meant. Nevermind the fact that you could see commercial-free movies in the days before VCRs were so prevalent. It meant "boobs". Even today, you'd never see something like Queer is Folk on broadcast television, and there really isn't much in the way of naughty bits in that (i.e., less boobage in a show about gay men).

I wasn't watching commercial television in 1997, so I have nothing to compare Stargate to. I didn't think it was overwhelmingly violent or that the nudity was shocking, but I did think that the nudity was a nod to the premium cable crowd...or executives. Anyway, TPTB now admit that it was a bad idea, but who knew they'd be picked up for two years after the broadcast of a few eps on Showtime...much less eight seasons overall??

Hmmm...can I use the word bb on this forum? Too late...

Eh, no... It wasn't a terribly exciting view. Like I said, it's not even something one would usually notice and it took me many, many viewings of CotG (the whole episode! Not just that scene! ) before I even noticed it. Not much for the pornlovers.

I was surprised to see nakedness, but then ultimately happy, because I like breasts. That single DVD was rated an 18 over here in the UK, I had always wondered why.

Hey! Are you that guy from the "Gatecon" movie I downloaded from Gateworld?

Why did I enlist during a time of war? Because I'm "Army Strong," not "Army Smart."
