I don't know how everyone else felt, but when sci-fi cut out the theme songs @ the start of sg1 season 9 and sga season 2 I was a little disappointed. Now they're back. Why do that in the first place? I mean, were the episodes any longer because of it or was it because sci fi could cram another spot in the hour?

officially the shorter credits were done the episodes could last longer, Scifi just hadn't got around to broadcasting them. short credits meant that an extra minute could be added to each episode
unoffically the shorter credits were done to allow more adverts. 1 minute of extra ad space available during a popular show could allow them to make more money.

Well they had them for the first 4 or so then they brought the new credits in. Sky One still managed to cram in one extra car insurance advert for a while...Comment
