Stargate SG-1: The only ever sci-fi show without a definitive bad season?

It seems to me that all sci-fi shows seem to have one season thats plain bad. Now, might be totally off base because I have only seen 4 or 5 star trek episodes ever, i am going off of the sci-fi i have seen.

To me, Stargate never had a bad season IMHO, but others had a least one rotten egg in the bunch:

Buffy-Season 1 and/or season 6 or 7..........season 1 had bad plots and some fans think season 6 didnt focus enough on slaying vamps and season 7 had "potentials" that took away from the development of the main characters
Angel-season 1 had all stand alones except the ones with faith and (though i have not seen it) some fans do not like season 5
    Highlander- Season six..............yeah................
Babylon 5- I heard the story arc fell apart in the last season

    Your thoughts?

I concur, although i havan't seen a single one of those...It does seem like most shows have a definitive season where the show falls apart, I was GOING to say Season 9 for SG-1, but from the very few spoilers i've read, I decided to change my mind

Although, i'm not a particular fan on season 5....A few to many loose ends IMHO.

Seasons 7 and 8 were pretty bad in my estimation, far worse than anything preceding them.

Personally, I really liked season 8, it brought out some new elements we hadn't seen (although, there were a few I didn't like) and season 7, meh. I got no tiffs with it, I actually quite liked it

Oo, very bad question, because when S7-8 aired, tons of opposing feedback came about (both i personally agree and disagree with). So i dont think SG1 can qualify for the title.

season was a low point, but not a "bad" season. I liked season 8 a lot. I view season 9 as a "bad" season.

hmmm, a question with no definitive answer - It's such a subjective question!

Personally, I feel like parts of season 8 were a bit of a low point, just because a significant number of the episodes didn't really speak to me. When I think about the season I remember all the horrible personal crises of the team, rather than the great Gate-related stuff they did... BUT the latter few eps (bar Moebius) rocked my world, made me remember why I LOVED this series to begin with Reckoning anyone?

I don't think SG-1 has ever had a bad season. Every one of them has had at least a few really great episodes. S8 might have been a bit slower than some of the earlier ones, but as kiwi said, there were some incredible episodes as well.

To me, season 1 is the weakest, though that's just because the show was new and feeling its way around. (SGA managed to compress it's growing spurt into the first nine episodes, then really blasted off, IMO.)

I think season 6 was the worst season... but none of them were really terribly bad and made me stop watching or whatever. 7 and 8 are some of my favorites!

I feel Season 8, and 9 are 'bad' seasons...we just lost too many base elements which made the show SG-1 and i dont see it improving tbh

All had their moments, yeah. S6 had it's downpoints especially, it was pretty slow to end (bar FC) after an amazing start. S8 was all about endings, and what an ending it was.... S9, all the episodes have been on major plots, which i like. I'd say you're right.

But the thing is, SG is the longest running sci-fi of all time, yet it's not even close to Trek, Buffy and The X-Files in terms of popularity. Surely they'd go by ratings etc. where Stargate has been known to slip down in recent years...

I don't think there's a *bad* season. There are some seasons better than others. I used to hate season six, but then realised that although the overall season felt clunky, it had a lot of great eps.

um...Dr Who is the longest running scifi show with a grand total of 26 seasons a few movies and then the new 2005 series

You know what i meant! Alright then, let me rephrase, it's the longest American sci-fi show, running consecutively for 10 seasons. Better?
