The ninth chevron is to change the colour of the chevrons in the galaxy, there is a different code for each colour, you can use the same symbol (and even the PoO) more than once in the sequence so they are literaly billions of different shades of colours. The reason they haven't done this already is that they can't decide which colour to have.

P.S.- To get these pics I just typed in Stargate DVD in google.

P.S.S.- As near as I can tell, they don't use the special 7th chevroned gate on the show at all.

i am SOOOO annoyed with the designers of the dvd covers.... THEY PUT EGYPTIAN SYMBOLS ON THE STARGATE!!!!!!! HOW DARE THEY!!!!! THOSE FOOLS!!!! DO THEY KNOW NOTHING?????

perhaps the 9th chevron dials to a room with a stargate from each galaxy which can alow you to dial any where in the universe there is a gate for example the ida galaxy or the ori galaxy and any other galaxy with stargates and it has a sideroom full of charged ZPMs and a ZPM maker and a ZP generator to power the gates

The true purpose of the 9th Chevron...

"It's been the subject of an extremely heated debate on the
internet for years. Many believe that is a matter collapser, a
bomb capable of destroying all matter in the universe in a chain
    reaction lasting 13 seconds.

I am of the firm belief that in reality it is not a matter
killer, but a matter REARRANGER, converting all molecules to the
exact state they existed thirteen seconds previous to activation
thus effecting a thirteen second time jump to the past."

Oh yes, the truth is discovered.

" A friend of mine once sent me a post card with a picture of the entire planet Earth taken from space. On the back it said, "Wish you were here." " --Steven Wright

Yes, it happens to be just that...

But all sci-fi is interconnected in essence, and so all can be realted.

    err.... realted

yes it can be interconnected, but not as saying you take two potatoes, one the 9th chevron and one Homer from The Simpsons, and turn them both into mashed potato and mix them, what u say is a theory for something completely different also applies to what the 9th chevron is!!!
