River Tam is the brilliant but damaged teen that the crew of the Serenity are protecting from The Alliance. Actress Summer Glau recounts the strenuous training she underwent to perfect River's amazing fight sequences, how she was able to empathize with her character and why she believes Serenity is such a unique movie.
Smooth Operator
The Operative is not your usual sci-fi villain, no hideously deformed features, reptilian skin or megalomaniacal tendencies, but then Serenity is no ordinary sci-fi movie. British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, explains why this is a particularly menacing villain, how he worked with Joss Whedon to discover his character's motivation and his reaction to being a member of the Whedon universe!
Crash and Burn
Visual effects supervisor Loni Peristere of the Emmy award winning Zoic Studios reveals some of the secrets behind the visual feast of Serenity special effects. With a relatively modest budget, the team have created a stunning feature and Peristere recalls the camaraderie between the different effects houses and the overwhelming desire of everyone involved to be a part of the project.
