Named after a famed relative perhaps, a notable leader of her people...

I will keep that in mind when it comes to a middle name. I was going use a middle name for Teyla in a fan fiction I finished writing last week, as I left some space for one, but now I don't think I will for that fan fiction. Mainly so I can be lazy and not have to come up with one for Sheppard, but I will come up with one to use for another fan fiction, if I should want to use one.

and it seems like they all with what Joseph Mallozzi said in 2008, that Tagan could have been her mother's name, but I like what Gateworld says, https://www.gateworld.net/wiki/Tagan, that Tagan could have been her father's first name while Torren was his middle name.

Some SGA novels seemed to have went with what Joseph Mallozzi said too and they even spelled Tagan, Tegan. I haven't read those novels that do yet, but, after reading what the novels did on the stargate wikia, what those novels chose to do with her mother, is not something I would have chosen or even wanted for Teyla.

I only remember she was introduced as the Daughter of Tagan, or maybe one of the Athosian mentioned it.
My brain just automatically assumed a matriarchal hierarchy, since Teyla was considered the leader of the Athosians when the expedition first met with her. So that would have made Tagan her mother, and not her father.

After thinking about it a bit, I could possibly see that as here mother's name. If SGA had gotten that season 6, then they could have done some Teyla back story on her mother. I do think the plan was to use Teyla more in season 6 had there been one. For one of Teyla's kids in my fan fiction and in my sims games, I went with the Ashley Teyla Emmagan Sheppard. I almost would be tempted to change the middle name, but since they never said what happened to her mother, I'm just going to leave it as is and I like Teyla as the middle name.
