Annoying though she is, the Tour Guide From Hell does help to illustrate the sheer complacency and almost reckless abandon with which the Tauri have tied their destinies to the Aschen alliance.

Everybody living their perfect, wonderful, wholesome, Aschen-extended lives and visiting the site of Earth's first pioneering forays into a wider Galaxy - turned into a mawkish tourist attraction with the world's naffest tour guides.

It's sort of like a lorry-load of sheep doing the conga into the abattoir...

This episode is pretty challenging to me because... the earth is pretty screwed up. I think you could make a fair case that relieving the suffering in the world for everybody who is living in it is worth the price of future generations. It's not a terrible way to die, and so the earth becomes another farming colony for the ashen, so what?

Also, I found the time travel stuff weird because they definitely implied that their time line would end as soon the note was passed (Sam saying that if they suceeded, it wouldn't matter where she and Joe were). From other episodes I'd assumed that their timeline would have continued on, and a new one would have started from the time of delivery of the note.

Also, Daniel was hot.
