Rather enjoyed this episode, a good solid single-episode story. The non-corporeal being was very reminiscent of Atlantis' "Hide and Seek", whilst the Gate trouble reminded me of SG-1's "Redemption". Having said that, I dont necessarily think that taking ideas from these masterpieces of SciFi is a bad thing, provided two things are taken into account:
- That the plot points are fitting for the overall story
- That the story is dissimilar enough to be recognised in its own right
And in my humble opinion, this episode fits both criteria easily. Its a very busy episode, but the character development doesn't get lost in the midst of all the problems that they face.
I happen to agree with only one point of cheese's review; The spelling and grammar weren't fantastic, which can confuse and distract readers from the real quality of this story.
I'm only just starting to read this series, but I have high hopes for it after this episode.
