What to watch this weekend
• Sci Fi's Friday lineup just gets better and better. This weekend, the cable network adds Firefly (Friday, 7 ET/PT), Joss Whedon's too-quickly canceled 2002 Fox series that reimagined the space opera as an extraterrestrial Western. The space-Western aspects were a bit too literal for some viewers, who were further confused by Fox's probably fatal decision to air the episodes out of order, a mistake Sci Fi is correcting. Firefly had its flaws, but it was a fabulously cast and written series that deserved a better chance to find its way and its audience, something it may just do when the big-screen version arrives in September. Until then, enjoy the show in its original incarnation, and then stay on Sci Fi for the conclusion of the two-part season premiere of Stargate SG-1 (8 p.m. ET/PT).
