I think it was the "X-Files," but I'm not sure and I was wondering if anyone here knew for sure. I first saw it being used by the online "Highlander" fandom way back in 1998. Then again by the "Buffy" fandom, who obviously used it so often Joss ended up incorporating the reference into "Angel," calling upper level beings "The Powers."
Now of course, I see it here, but I'm wondering, who actually coined the phrase? I ask because whoever they are, we owe them barrels and barrels of royalty fees.
