    how complex the plot!

i was just thinking of how good those writers are...i mean, how clever they can be! i took a ton of mythology in middle-school and still have alot and it is so much fun to see system lords and ancient myths come together... sometimes i start wondering, "What if?"

Not at all, I agree with you. It's fascinating how they've mix up the storyline with historic stuff.

Yeah its really clever and makes me love the show even more.

Daniel: The Others would have stopped you.
Jack: They'd have a hell of a fight on their hands...
              Daniel: You wouldn't do that...
              Jack: Ba'al would be dead...
              Daniel: Jack...
Jack: ...And don't think I'd stop there!
Daniel: You're a better man than that...
              Jack: That's where you're wrong!

i love it when there is a touch of 'reality' in the mythology

it's sorta fun to go into a museum and see something with Anubis's face on it and then realize that the show based thier props on that very same style/art form

it does add a sense of wonder to the show

I used to think that what about Star Trek: Like "What if Gene Roddenberry met someone from the Federation and wrote it all down"? But then I was like, oh wait, damn temporal prime directive! ;p

lol! Why does that make me think Enterprise?

As for the mythology, I think that it's pretty neat. TPTB do a great job with all the research, IMO
JACKSON: ...I mean isn't that why we're doing this, all of this? The Stargate program, the budget? Isn't it so we can go and meet new races, gather advanced technology and possibly learn about ourselves in the process?
VALA: Oh, come on! you do it to meet women.
MITCHELL: She has a point, sir.

: I've been thinking I need to get out on an offworld mission or two.

I enjoy the little references to characters I might have read about in ancient history class or archaeology classes from time to time. It's good fun. And I think it's nice that Stargate actually had some form of mythological structure instead of just making up random villans and such.

Yes. Apophis is the greek name for the Egyptian serpent god Apep, a god of darkness and the underworld and the principal enemy of Ra, the sun god. Supposedly Apep would spend every night in pursuit of Ra to try and keep the sun from rising again.
