    Sarcophagus

just wondering? if the gouald are mostly defeated the wouldnt the jaffa be in control of some sarcophaguses? they could take there symbiote out of them and use the sarcophagus to heal there immune system right? they did it with jack in hathor.

I guess ... as long as they didn't like it ... too much.

I don't think that would work because Jack was altered to be that way, the Sarcophagus heals you based on what you're supposed to be. Because of that, it would assume they're supposed to have the symbiote pouch.

I remember seeing a lot about this in another thread, (and Im searching now) but here's my oppinion: The Sarcophagus would fix whatever was wrong with the Jaffa at the time, but not the immune system. The Jaffa would be fine at first, but once he goes out into public, he's sick again.
JACKSON: ...I mean isn't that why we're doing this, all of this? The Stargate program, the budget? Isn't it so we can go and meet new races, gather advanced technology and possibly learn about ourselves in the process?
VALA: Oh, come on! you do it to meet women.
MITCHELL: She has a point, sir.

It's a viable option, however, we've learned throughout various episodes of SG-1 that the side effects from using the sarcophagus develop over time. These side effects are somewhat similar to a drug dependency. So in the long run, it may not be the wisest idea.

The reason it fixed Jack in Hathor is because he didn't have a symbiote yet and all it healed was his pouch. With the Jaffa all it would do would heal any sickness they had at that time. It wouldn't be able to create a whole new immune system for them because the Jaffa genetic code has been maniuplated over time to be like that.

You know this has always confused me in some places....they say the jaffa are bred like that, however in bloodlines it would appear the preest is using a similar pouch creating device on ryac!?

the symbiote does not desrtoy the immune system, it just supresses it rendering it useless.so ibeleive the sarcophagus if used only once could help.

If it just supressed it then the Jaffa that used tretonin their immune system would come back. I think the symbiote completly gets rid of the immune system.

They were giving Ry'ac a symbiote so they obviously don't start out with one but he also had no immune system or else he could of fought off that disease he had.

Not necessarily. There are numerous diseases here on Earth (and presumably elsewhere in the galaxy) that humans (and symbiote-free Jaffa) are susceptible to regardless of their immune system capabilities. Clearly Teal'c believed that Ry'ac had an immune system or else he would not have denied the boy his prim'tah. Then again, Jaffa physiology has been redifined on several occasions since the first season so anything goes, I suppose.

when O'Neill had his pouch created, Janet said he had no symbiote but Teal'c said he no longer had an immune system, so i think its safe to say the creation of his pouch destroyed the immune system making a symbiote needed and since the Sarc was able to heal him, it could also work on the Jaffa.

since Rya'c had scarlet fever, his condition getting worse could have been blamed on the scarlet fever and not the fact he had his pouch recently so he had no immune system.

since this happened before Hathor trying to turn O'Neill into a Jaffa, Teal'c could have learnt something or remember something about the immune system being destroyed before the symbiote is implanted
