I think SG needs to have more episodes with different forms of fighting, especially something like martial arts, I'm a great fan of that. I hope they show alot of it in SGA. Teyla knows abit and she's very good.

I prefer handfighting to guns since your more involved, and its great to watch as well. And I also love swordfighting, I really hope they have alot of those types of battles too.

I'm fan of martial arts as well but I don't want to see to much of as it's sci-fi show that explores other planets and meets other alien species.

I really don't want to see the "fight of the week" every Friday. SG1 and SGA teams were originally designed to explore other worlds - not kick butt on 'em.

Show us different races and cultures (not necessarily human). There can be conflict, but it doesn't have to end with fighting. I tend to doze off in long fight scenes anyway.

It would fit in SGA since most planets have low technology because of the wraith. They would have to learn how to hand-fight, like Teyla.
It wont get rid of the sci-fi element

The real problem with using multiple techniques is simple: Fight coordinators and stunt training and this is only practical where it's a serious investment. There's a reason why all vampires in the Buffyverse kickbox; it's just not worth it for generic fights.

If you want a distinctive martial art you probably need a specialist coordinator and specialist stunt fighters. They did this for The Warrior, because they wanted to make a big thing of the Jaffa figthing style, and had to get in a bunch of Capoeira specialists in to do most of the fight scenes and coordinate them with the regular stunt team for safety.

Since they've given Teyla a specific style of fighting, it might make sense to have a few baddies with their own fighting style. In particular, choosing/building a distinctive style for the Genii, if they're going to keep on recurring, since they seem to be big on hand-to-hand training.

Well there were the warriors in The Warrior and the Ninja Jaffa who were in the service of Anubis in Descent. We saw one had a long sword that he pulled out and then the rest had their conventinal staff weapons.

I don't mind action, but I would like to see more distinct cultures and maybe some more races.

Martial arts style fighting would not make sense given the nature of the show. The whole point of the Stagate series is that it is modern soldiers, mostly American, fighting aliens when neccesary. Modern soldiers use guns, not nunchucks and katanas. And a shift to using martial arts would be a poor choice because it would start to dominate the show. The last thing Stargate needs is to become a Dragonball Z or Matrix clone.

It would be cool if Teyla got to fight someone besides Sheppard once in a while.

To quote Major Sheppard (to Teyla) "If this was really a fight, I would have shot you by now"

Teyla was practicing stick-fighting with someone besides Sheppard in "Siege" - but we were not told who it was. I assumed the guy was Athosian, due to the outfit.

The way stargate episodes are written and produced there is slim chance of hand to hand combat, it’s more blowing things up and shooting each other.

If my brain isn't deceiving me he was a pretty hot Athosian.
For some reason I had it in mind that he was from Earth but it makes more sense that he's not.
