Hypothetically, the better the show does in Australia the more MGM can charge the network airing it, meaning they could charge Syfy less for their airing rights inorder to keep it on the air. I'm not sure that's how MGM really operates though.

The more "cream" MGM can gather, the less it has to charge Syfy for "first run" rights. The lower the cost for Syfy, the lower the ratings it needs to break even/make profit. I'm NOT saying "Aussies did it", in fact, I said "no one outside the US" could. All I was pointing out was that there is a potential "follow on" effect based on international success.

You can make much less expensive shows and turn in serious coin. Not such luck with SG - you have to promote it, you have finance it, and you at the mercy of the fans (not casual fans which come and go). With Stargate gone, I'm quite sure that they will make themselves free from left-overs like Eureka and BSG new series won't survive either (because part of BSG fans were from SG).

Common crowd doesn't dig sci-fi anymore. End of story.
That makes absolutely no business sense. If they wanted to end Stargate they would never have greenlit SGU and wasted millions of dollars

Ok.... lets start by removing the movies and pilots. I don't care for sci-fi movies - they are too short, and don't count as shows. Pilots are possible shows yes, but most of the time they end up being mini-series at best and don't get traction. That brings your list to:

                      Falling Skies (TNT)
                      Game of Thrones (HBO)
                      Camelot (Starz)
                      The Event (NBC)
                      Wonder Woman (NBC)
                      Alphas (Syfy)

Wonder Woman is Super-Hero genre not Sci-fi, Alphas is horror.

                      Falling Skies (TNT)
                      Game of Thrones (HBO)
                      Camelot (Starz)
                      The Event (NBC)

Camelot and Game of Thrones (while both excellent so far by the way) are Fantasy....

                      Falling Skies (TNT)
                      The Event (NBC)

The Event is almost guaranteed to be canceled....

Wow- some list we have left.....

                      Falling Skies (TNT)

Grand Total: 1 Sci-Fi TV show... and it hasn't even aired yet.... Not to mention it's only 10 episodes long!!!

What?! Why would you say that? It's going to be the bestest show EVER! I mean, considering how well the original show did, you figure its going to get at LEAST 2 viewers. If it tires real hard it might even get 3! And one of them might even like it and watch for weeks and weeks to come!

I'm an average viewer. As plain as they come. People make TV shows based on my demographic.

Holy ****, you are such a freaking *****! If you want to nit pick everything then yeah, there is only one Sci-fi show on TV... hmmm sound like the movie "The number 23" where everything in his life wants to revolve around the number 23, so he makes it happen! You DON'T want to admit that there is scifi on tv, so you figure out a way to make it not happen.

The guy said that people have been dumbed down to stupid tv and that scifi is no longer around. Which is a lie! And I'm sorry folks but Super heroes are science fiction/fantasy ... which can be heaped into one pile. Flying people? Not exactly non-fiction. X-ray vision? Science-y and fiction...
