    My whole take on Destiny...

The universe is just like the human body. The signal/code/message the ancients found is no different then our DNA. in fact it makes sense that the building blocks of life would have thier fundementals driven from building blocks of the universe itself.

Destiny's mission is to explore as much of the galaxy as possible and gather data so they can put together the puzzle. If they gather enough pieces they can complete the puzzle and therefore have access to the entire universe without even needing to have traveled to it before. Once they put the puzzle together they will be able to travel to any point in time & space because they will know exactly when and where everything is/was by using the DNA of the universe.

The Ancients however didn't need to worry about this anymore, it is/was beneath them once they learned to ascend; they didn't exist in the same plane as they did before. So although Ascending gives the ancients a form of power and understanding it would make sense that it too would have an equal in the Universe because they would be part of it.

Now if Destiny has the power to go into the "past" that means it could potentially have the power to create another "big bang". If you modify the DNA of a living, breathing thing you risk the chance of killing that thing. The Universes DNA already has a structure, it knows the future because it already has the instructions for it. If you change the DNA and you would do this by going into the past and changing it the Universe would then become a ticking time bomb as it cannot correct itself.

    Just a thought.

Well perhaps the message is some sort of countdown, meaning that the universe was created, but will be destroyed in a given time to start it all over again if no one in the whole universe till this time has found the message and contacts the first ones? Then they would try it again and again till some species figures it out and proves that it is worthy that the universe will continue to exist?

That would mean that the race who created that point to reach, would assume that in all the universe, which according to the Ancients, is infinite, and why would anyone bother traversing an infinite anything for no reason, also assuming they would pick up the 'supposed' structure in the CMB in the first place.
