    Not surprised.

Eli making pop culture references IS his character after all.

Thank you for giving this info, I love Futurama, but I didn't get the reference, because what I heard was "my name is Philip.. Philip Fries".

It's a good one. Both are almost home, yet so far away from it.

Yeah Eli is good for references that is for sure. So far he is one of the most interesting characters on the show.
So far, he's the only interesting character on the show.

In the tv cartoon series Futurama, Phillip J. Fry was the main character. Nice little reference right there.
                    Nope never watched the show.

A little too full. Does loser nerd mean sci-fi fan or does sci-fi fan mean loser nerd? That seems to be the tired line of thought our fair writers are stuck on.

They've toned down Eli's joke making.

Now his remarks are a little softer, and more appropriate. He's "grown up" a bit in the last couple episodes.

In Air Pt.1 he was acting more like a 16-year-old "Don't blame this on me."

But now he's getting better. "People need to know the truth. But they also need hope."

I thought that too. I'm glad they did. I thought his attempts at humor in the first few episodes were almost all completely out of place and not very funny at all. I mean when they are desperately searching for water so they don't all die of dehydration shortly why should I care what he thinks about the Star Wars prequels?
"First Weir, then Samantha Carter, and now, you! It's a pity you humans die or get reassigned so easily, or I might have a sense of satisfaction now!"

Yeah, I noticed and giggled like a little girl at the reference.
