General SGU Ratings Discussion thread (all seasons)

they moved the show to tuesday, b/c more ppl watch tv. the show's hurting with that much competition. should they put it back on fri? should they move it to a slower day (wednesday would be great!). should they have it air in the summer instead? are the ratings hurting b/c of the competition, or that just not enough ppl are fans of it?

I think there is just not enough people that are fans of it, SGU seems to me to an acquired taste. You're either into to it or not, and the nots seem to be winning IMO. But there have been many shows that started slow and after a few years built up a great following.

Baseball probably took some viewers away, but that's besides the point. There'll always be something playing on another channel that could cost SGU viewers.
(Unless all the other channels can agree on a onehour timeslot once a week, where they don't air anything, so SGU can have the ratings we all know it deserves)

The bigger problem seems to be that A: SGU doesn't attract enough casual viewers and B: SGU always seems to be the viewers second choice. The first issue probably has to do with the serialized nature of the show, the second one is probably because of the (perceived lack of) quality in the show. What is really tough for SGU is that the ratings still havent found a stable baseline. They're still in a downwards slope, besides the occasional uptick.

I'm of the opinion that they need to start putting more cliffhangers at the end of episodes - possibly at the end of all of them, looking at the uptick for Awakening.

Yes, the ratings are a valid topic. However it seems to be one that many members of this forum can't discuss without snarking at each other, or calling each other names or generally being rude little gits.

I was contemplating re-opening the other thread to discussion since so many over there had been trying to play by the rules, but your actions have stopped that.

The discussion will be reopened on Monday. And that thread will be policed with a zero tolerance policy to the baiters and rude posters. meaning if any poster posts any rude post, they will be banned from the forum for three days. Anyone responds to those that bait, they will be banned too. (which means, for those that are honestly and sincerely trying to play nice with each other, when the thread gets trolled, simply report it and move on. Don't respond, don't reply.)

What we want is those of you honestly trying to have polite discussions to help us boot the trolls out of the thread.

The reason I took the discussion out of the other thread isn't because there were a few trolls, there were a couple dozen responses to the trolling posts. Had i banned every single person that participated, I'd have banned about a dozen of you. I wasn't willing to do that last week, but the continued defiance has changed my mind.

Now, ratings discussion will take the weekend off.
