For the same reason they didn't volunteer when Selmak needed a new host -- Sam doesn't want to go through that experience again after Jolinar. Jack needs to be at death's door before he'll blend (re: Abyss) and even then he's rather dead than alive, Teal'c can't blend cause he's a jaffa and Daniel just doesn't feel comfortable about it whether that is because of what the Goa'uld did to Sha're remains debatable.

Just seems a bit hypocritical or selfish especially for Sam when not a few hours back she was begging the one lady to use Lantash to save Elliot.

Obviously the Tok'ra always have an agenda.

There's a big difference in taking a symbiote to save your life and simply taking a symbiote when you have no real need for one (health-wise speaking). The latter is especially true for Sam because of Jolinar.
          Unmade Plans (WIP: 11/20):
Sam's life takes a turn in an unexpected direction when she's faced with an unplanned pregnancy. The decision to keep the baby and raise it on her own will alter her life forever. Relationships are put to the test, especially the one between her and Jack. She doesn't know what to expect from him and he surprises her at every turn.

It would've been interesting to see (though I know it would never happen) Jack become Lantash's host. Are there any fics like that out there?

For the most part, I really enjoyed this two-parter. I think I was just tired of the conspiracy/Earth-based episodes and was happy to see some progress in the main storyline. Yeesh, what a difference ten years between viewings makes.

              Few thoughts...

I agree that Daniel is getting too emotional in the face of potentially turning the tide of war. As soon as we realized Sarah/Osiris would be going in Anubis's place, I dreaded Daniel's reaction, and I'm usually one to side with him.

I feel as though Teal'c has only been making cameos in the past few episodes. I would actually be surprised to see him when he finally did appear. This one was no exception.

I also hate Elliot's death. Ugh. I'm sorry, but it hurt enough that Martouf was conveniently killed when Jack's feelings for Sam were confirmed. Seeing it brought back up again - only for both Lantash and the young, bright-eyed lieutenant to die - was just salt in the wound.

Season five has had the most ups and downs that I've seen so far in my re-watch. No recollection at all of later seasons, so I can't compare with them, but I'm a bit apprehensive about what's to come. I know I'm going to hate Daniel being gone after Meridian, but I'm not exactly looking forward to season seven either for an obvious reason. ):

Was he really referring to the ceremonial cannibalism that only took place during the summit? There has to be more to it than that. :/

It's implied that it's not just during the summit.

I wished he lived too. If they didn't want some weird love thing going on, it could have been another tok'ra symbote that saved him. It would have been interesting to have him as another recurring one then.

                    Oh, I definitely missed that.

But still... Could that alone account for there being essentially zero population growth across all Goa'uld? Didn't other queens exist somewhere? I wish they had touched on that just a bit more.

What bothers me is why they decided to go through the trouble of introducing him as a potential love interest for Sam if they were going to take him out so quickly in favor of Jack.

I think since Elliot implied (or stated?) that Martouf was in love with Sam and not just Jolinar, keeping Martouf alive even with a different symbiote would have been problematic with regard to S/J.

That said, I still don't know why Lantash and Elliot had to be killed. I wasn't really convinced that Sam had feelings for Lantash in place of Jolinar, especially with how angry she was with Re'nal that she chose not to try to save Martouf.

I think if they had Elliot and Lantash live it may have been a bit awkward at first but it would have been something that they go over. Sam was interested in Mautouf, who replicated.

Anyhow, my point is that Elliot made a good character and would have been nice to see again as a tok'ra.

Agreed. It would have been interesting to see another Tau'ri-turned-Tok'ra character alongside Jacob/Selmak. It would have been strange for him to switch allegiances so soon after becoming part of the SGC, but it's better than dying, right?

Am I the only one who thinks that Martouf and Lantash were the only truly legit threats to Jack getting Sam. Even was less of a threat.

Jack never got Sam, and Sam never got Jack either.

So killing Martouf/Lantesh was a total waste.

Exactly. What other reason did they have for killing off a perfectly good character?
