Just a guess but I think Marduk must have been in the ziggurat for a very long time.. A few thousand years at least.

Didn't they even say somewhere in the episode? It was several thousands of years...I mean, look at the state of everything in that ziggurat....that wasn't just no housecleaning for a year or two
And one would understand WHY Marduk was so...miffed....

Just rewatched this ep and I believe that Daniel says it's about 4000 years old.

Are you sure? I'm not sure if I recall that, but I'll go look up a transcript, if I can find one!

It would *actually* for once make sense...the cuneiform writing sure didn't look like one of the older versions...

Ah...erm...actually, I meant to say "younger"...what they showed looked like one of the older versions...four-dimensional thinking isn't exactly my specialty...old, young...

I would *never* give a typo to the great Anubis....it was a slip of the mind. A typo would have looked like this: youngr.

Yeah, I know....stupid linguists and such...

The great, powerful and almighty Anubis is here. Although his time will come.

Okay.. I've just watched "Thor's Hammer" again and Marduk couldn't possibly have been imprissoned for all that long. Unless that Kendra is much older than she appears.
