I haven't seen anything with Dom DeLuise before, but I think he was really funny as Urgo, even the german dubbing was fun.

I did not know that actor before and I think anybody could have been Urgo provided he would have been funny enough.

I think a lot of the appeal of this episode depends on how much you like dom deluise. It's pretty much all about him with SG1 just there to react to his antics. Pretty much all the comedy episodes, except Window of Opportunity, focus on the guest star.
