My issue with teal'c and krista, it was nothing more than a plot device. she's never been heard from or mentioned again, she was a one off designed to make the eps work and nothing more.

chimera...had potential. Honestly, the pete storyline had potential. and maybe had he not been played by the director's brother it could have been more fully explored.

how about NOT making him a goof? don't make him a moron. make him a good guy who behaves and plays by the rules...and even gets along wtih the guys. then have something not work out. maybe have him figure out that he's on the rebound with the wife and he dumps sam.

dont' make him a cliche...which is what they did. it was poorly handled, imho.
I agree with the 'not making him a goof'... I never had a problem with any of the original team having relationships outside of work (and world-saving)

Instead of seeming to want to work with the complex characters that they'd created... they seem to have decided that the characters were 'done'... 'finished'... 'complete'... and therefore... boring... They seem to have wanted 'new' characters to start from scratch with. New = fun. New = 'no rules' (read no history to have to consider and incorporate and abide by).

I can't believe CJ and AT were entirely happy with the wallpapering of their characters. And not just from a "give me screen time" perspective. Would Sam really stand around and not jump in to solve a scientific problem? Would she accept without question or comment being robbed of command? Would she and Teal'c say nothing about Daniel's personality change?

Would Teal'c be satisfied to be treated as nothing more than muscle in the "new" SGC? Do you think Teal'c would really "follow" Mitchell? He respected O'Neill and Carter. there's no evidence of him respecting or trusting Mitchell. And no Mitchell proving himself to Teal'c.
      I could go on...
      I couldn't agree more...!

The Space Lark gives a lame Space Snark as it jumps the big Space Shark. Jinxies what a Space Farce....
Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?

AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

yeah, i would have loved to have seen Pete as a real and legitimate companion, and not a plot device. Which is all he was in the beginning, a plot device

And even though I am a dyed in the wool shipper I have to agree with you. The whole thing made Sam look weak and rather stupid or maybe the right word is desperate.

Even as a plot device he could have been written better. If they were going give her a bf, I would have rather it had been someone like Agent Barrett. Someone who respected her and her abilities as well as understood her job.

I agree with Zozer, the way Pete was written, it just made Sam look desperate.

i like that pete was outside. I like that he could have brougth up the complexities of working on a secret project. such as going to work under a mountian in january and coming home with a tan, or explaining how you got shot working on deep space telemetry. or having a male have to accept that his partner, a female, is 'cooler' than he is. (which can be very much a sticking point..remember charles and diana? it was hard on him to deal with teh fact that his 'little woman' was more popular than he'd ever be, and much moer in demand)

pete COULD have been all that. But he fell in the plot hole of needing to be at the stakeout and then never crawled out of it. he was never more than sam's plot device.

Yea the plot device was bad, but Pete was being written badly before that...he was almost like some juvenile males idea of how a boyfriend and girlfriend should act TPTB forgot what a strong woman Sam was and is

                            yes, pete was very fanboi

It was like the writers impressed themselves onto pete and, dude, who wouldn't like having the pretty girl forgive them for being a putz with a kiss on the head??

they kinda forgot that sam jsut isnt' like that. Just as pete's little stakeout rendevous did a disservice to him, sam NOT giving him heck did a disservice to her

I just wonder if they had gotten Ben Browder to play Pete, if the character would have been different
