Sam Carter/Jack O'Neill Ship Appreciation Thread

Actually Ripple Effect and anything contained therein would have zero effect on whether RDA puts in an appearance in season 10. That will rest on RDA's interest, his availablility, the offer being made and all sorts of other nitty gritty stuff.

Also, they will keep it a secret as long as possible ala Teryl & JR. It's bad business in tv to have the audience aware of everything that's going to happen before it happens, there needs to be some secrecy surrounding these things.

For people who aren't watching because they're afraid Sam will be "shipped off" with someone else. It won't happen so relax. Sam isn't actually in focus enough as far as I can see for anything remotely like that to happen. It would serve no purpose, and despite what many seem to beleive, the producers are not out to get you.

The other part of it is, with the various leaked rumours of a second movie, it would make sense that they'll hang on to a Sam & Jack resolve for that. Bigger is better and in SG ship terms Sam & Jack is the canon ship. A resolve is far more attractive in a movie that in the series. So I would say shippers don't fret. The ship hasn't sailed yet, it's just stuck in traffic.

RE in this epi Sam say I AM FREE FOR EVERYONE, but this almost kiss is realy strange because Sam is stranger for Marty and Marty stranger for Sam (AU)

Thanks for the info. No matter what else occurs, plot is paramount. Without plot you got squat. Same goes for movies. If adult themes and nudity further the plot, I'm all for it. Seems to me that the frontal scene in CotG didn't fall into that category if no one noticed it missing.

Porn for porn's sake is all fine and good if you like that kind of thing. But personally, I like it a lot better if there are actual characters and a plot. Humour even. Then again I've been known to fastforward through porn to get to the plot. (This probably makes me weird.)

the RE almost kiss, I think it was something that was being played on an emotional level that was not properly explained. To me it had nothing to do with Carter having romantic feelings for Martouf. The way I saw it was as years of regret and guilt finally being expelled. Carter was suddenly presented with a chance to do something she never got to. It gets quite deep psychologically which is where I think it was flawed. They didn't have the time to properly bring the audience into the reasoning.

either way I'm not opeining that can of worms again. Sufficed to say as a shipper I saw that having zero impact on the Sam & Jack ship.

Far as I'm concerned Sam & Jack have been together since Threads, tentatively testing a relationship, and when the time is right I beleive we'll see that delved into on the screen. Till then I shall amuse myself with things like this....

What about pr0n with actual characterization, strong plot inference and humour? Lol... beleive me I've seen it done. I've read several PWPs that have more character development and plot than some 30 chapter novellas

I find different types of fic good at different times.

I love a good adventure, one that particularly sticks in mind is one where sam and jack fall into a cave off-world and can't be can't be found as the geology affects the radio signals. Sam is seriously injured and Jack has to give her first aid which includes some "delicate areas" which caused him some embarrasment.

PWP has it's uses when that is what I am looking for, so long as it is marked as such so that it can be avoided by those who aren't interested then I have no problem with any sub genre (slash etc which I am not interested in)

That is my theory too. Jack managed to wangle a transporter from the asgard (after all they do owe him) adapted so there are two portable stations allowing them to spend time together despite their distant jobs.

In general, I agree with your assessment. But, I was referring to the plot difficulties presented by RE not the ones encountered by the actors availability or compensation. I think that the writers have boxed Jack's relationship with Sam into a situation that will be diificult to extricate. I don't know anything about future movies, but I think it highly improbable. They are losing viewers and will need to win them back. The best way is to re-establish Sam and Jack's love affair. The sooner the better. But, if RDA is not going to make an appearance next season this will be almost impossible. I don't think many viewers will be satisfied with any verbal acknowlegment by Sam that she is in a permanent and loving relationship with Jack. Most of us want the physical consumation of this affection, not more vague references. I also agree that they wont " ship" Sam with anyone else, but that doesn't mean that they will resolve the situation to a satisfactory conclusion either. IMO without Jack's physical presence there wont be a Sam and Jack finale. I truly hope you're right and I am delusional.

It will be nice to see a movie but I don't think it will happen because I think they will all look too old by then specially for an action movie like Stargate . It will take probably around 4 to 5 years for the film to be in the theatres ....BUT they perhaps can make just a telefilm , a good one . I just don't see it in the universal cinemas ..Shame but the actors are or will be too old for that by the time the movie is finished .

I Also don't think that RE has any influence on RDA coming back or not for the 200 episode .. The shippers have nothing to do with RDA's decisions . I think it's everyone s' right to stop watching a show when they feel like it specially when their ship has been torn apart but mostly I don't really watch SG1 now just purely because the stories do not hold my interest..I don't particularly like Cam and Laundry ..didn't really like Vala , therefore I automatically switched off ..I didn't want that to happen in a way but it did ..and I gave a chance to Atlantis which I much prefer now specially since Ronon came along ..what a hunk !!! and I love all his scenes with Teyla .

I'm so glad someone shares my opinion about this. The new characters on the show don't hold any...I hate to say attraction, but you know what I mean. This may sound crazy and vaguely stalkerish, but it was like I knew the original characters. Not really knew them, but you get the point. New viewers might like Mitchell and Landry and Lam and *shudder* Vala, but I miss Hammond and Jack and Janet.

That's basically why I kind of quit watching the show. I still watch it occasionally, but it's no longer numero uno on my list.

And if you ask me, they're trying to make Mitchell into another Jack, but that will never happen I tell you.
