    Fair point.

Although I don't blame Sam for wanting a life any more than I blame Jack for Kerry (although, yowza, Jack has *great* taste in women - Kerry was a hottie, go Jack! )

I think Pete, Sam, Kerry and Jack all have issues but I just think it's like magnets - some repel and some attract Unfortunately for Kerry & Pete, it sucks liking a guy/girl who only has eyes for someone else. Kerry was just more on the ball at recognising it.

Part of me wonders if Pete suspected though. Why else would he say "I hope you get what you want"? It's kind of a weird thing to say. Then again, so was "Is that it?" Jeez, Sam, I love you but harsh much? She truly *is* cr*p at relationships lol. I kinda love her for it at the same time, it makes her a little more human.

In fairness you can't really blame Pete for prying, he is a detective after all. You give him a loose thread and he can't help but try to unravel it. I just think she should have had a little chat with him about boundaries and not bringing your work home with you. He was a great guy, he just wasn't Jack.

Good for Sam too, trying to have a real relationship. Jack was forbidden fruit. Jack tried the same thing with Kerry, after all. These relationships helped them both to realise the extent of their feelings toward each other.

Sometimes we know what we want and we are able to get it.

Sometimes we think we know what we want and we are able to get it only to find out its not what we want at all.

Sometimes we know what we want and we can't have it and we try to move past the want but no matter how hard we try nothing measures up.

If Sam and Jack's love hadn't been forbidden, or had they not tried to be happy with other people, would this thread be so filled with passion?

it really isn't. it's rob/brad who wrote him that way. and hired that actor.

but for how things went, with sam giving up and moving on with/to another man... i blame sam *and* jack equally. sam's actions brought us the boyfriend situation, but jack's non-actions let it continue.

so first i blame the writers, then sam|jack for their chickendoodaness.

Given Sam's past (Jonas Hansen) and the fact that it was implied that he may have been a manipulative control freak, I'm surprised Sam put up with the inquisitiveness from Pete. Not even really about him but I'm pretty certain if a guy started following me after a few dates it would scare the heck out of me (then again I had a guy stalk me once because I stopped speaking to him. He wasn't violent but it wasn't nice). To me that's a big red flag for potential future problems.

*So* wish they hadn't killed off Joe. He was a good foil for Jack IMO. I didn't like him because he seemed like more of a plausible threat to me and I loved their little peeing contest over Sam in 2001.

agree! but maybe pete was written the way he was written so we would dislike him and not want him to end up with sam (speaking about the general fans and viewers). of all the ways to write him, of all the actors they could have hired...

She did. Joe. But he died... Again. although re your point about Marty, I guess she did date him in an AU so it's not entirely implausible (tho didn't they imply that she left him then married Jack? I never really paid much attention to the last two seasons)

that episode, 'ripple effect' wasn't that bad... had some close admits of alternate s/j's... but get to the part where she almost kissed martouf...

my gawd, what season 9 could have been for s/j...

I think given the circumstances it's less creepy stalker, more violation of trust. Not the sort of thing that makes him a bad guy. Not even something she should necessarily dump him over. She should, however, tell him that digging into her classified career isn't cool. For all we know she did have that conversation with him after he recovered.

He was a decent guy though. Just couldn't keep his work/personal life separate.

As they always say in oil and gas in Aberdeen, "it's nae fit ya know, it's who ya ken!"

Joe Mallozzi didn't like Pete. He called him an "unsatisfactory chump". So maybe that was the point.

britta, maybe I'm just mean I've dumped a guy for less.

They don't outright say who she's with in that alternate reality in Ripple Effect. But it is implied that she's with Jack. It's the only season 9 episode I've watched. And I don't think it's necessary to explain why!

I genuinely feel bad for Martouf. Imagine getting back some version of the person you'd already lost and then losing them to someone else? Must have been quite a kick in the (shiny white!) teeth! (Sorry, just added that before Bev could ) Poor guy. He was ok, Lantash on the other hand wasn't very nice.

Although I was kind of sick of AUs by that point. Enough already! We get that Sam and Jack get their freak on in every universe but ours... jump off that fence and make it so in our universe, please!
