Hey, I have my favorite clothes, too. Besides, I'm sure he wanted something cool for his stage thing. I know how nerves are and even actors start to crack after all that time under all that scrutiny. 
Don't think the heavy, long-sleeved shirt would be very comfy after 1/2 an hour up there.
